Xbox 360 limitations

Despite only owning the Xbox360 for a few hours, I just discovered that I only have 12GB free. It turns out that Microsoft ships the Xbox 360 with some music and some high-def video clips. I don’t actually see any way to defrag the hard drive. This could be a problem because you can easily download 500MB game demo off the net and between ripping music files, and downloading large game demos, I can see fragmentation being a big problem. The original Xbox didn’t have this problem because the HDD was just used as a cache and for saved games.
-----------------------------

All I can say is, Ken Kutaragi has a crystal ball in his office because he was right about HDD being too small. In the interview with PC Impress Watch he said that if the Playstation 3 came with the HDD it would make it cost even more then it does, and 20GB wouldn't be enough. That is why PS3 will not have the HDD, cutting it's cost... and will have a variety of HDD's available to buy in varieties of capacities.

Microsoft on the other hand has only released the 20GB HDD with their system, and no other HDD's are available for it unless you mod the system out.........Which is why people are modding it now. Purchasing 20GB HDD with your 360 only to be able to use 12gigs or less. No other capacity available, but to quote Microsoft...

"Larger size hard disk drives can always be produced later if the need arises."

What do you all think about this?

Haha. Pwned.

All teasing aside, Microsoft has announced they'll release bigger Hard Drives. Anybody who didn't know that before they paid for the 20GB HD are the people at fault for not investigating where their system was going.

Doesn't sound like much of a problem to me.

I'm thinking it's a crafty and applaudable move on Microsoft's part. Every schmuck between here and the moon will buy the larger drives to be produced later or run the risk of self modification.

20gig HD now for $100

soon a 60gb HD for $1000 muhahha!

the defraggleing thing isnt really a major problem tho. sure it would help the HD perform at its best performance, however i know people who never defrag thier PC.

i mean its something that should be done, but its not going to kill it if you dont.

Yeah..MS charing $100 for a 20 gig HD is utterly outrageous still. For that same $100 I can get many many times higher the amount of space.

Its odd that they say that your HD will have a lot of stuff already on it that will reduce the capacity, but isn't most of that deletable?
