Why I Left WoW

The first reason was money and time, but another reason helped out as well.

Fun. At about level 30 the game stopped being fun for me.

I kept on stalling out at about level 30. I just couldn't activate my abilities quickly enough and I was getting eaten alive. Doing some research I found that a lot of members who were at high levels were using macros (little programs that link abilities together to make their use more efficient).

...

That was too much like work for a game. If the game had a interface for building macros, like in Sacred, then I would have been more obliged to cook up some tasty macros for full-flavored ass kickings. But they didn't and I honestly just didn't have the time or inclination to delve that far into the game. I just kept on making new characters when I hit thirty in hopes that my new Shaman would break the curse.

Also, the amount of travel time kept increasing and I never had more than a couple hours for instance dungeons... some of which take a LONG TIME. The game became a burden instead of the joy it once was. If I had the free time, I would probably have had continued playing and leveled more, but with work and school I just didn't have that option.

Anyone else experience the same thing?

Re: Why I Left WoW

The fun factor dropped in the late 30s for me. It wasn't really that the controls or spells were getting too much, but the missions were just too widely spread or something. Until lvl 35 or so, you just have 1 or 2 areas where you play. After that, you are sent around the world. That is fun, but also more confusing. I kept having quests all over the world, but I never had time to do them all, which bothered me.

And once I got the horse.... well, let's just say I had no goal in my game. :)

yup, that's a big problem relating to the topic at hand.

anyway, i wan't WoW, i got a 10 day pass from a friend and i started playing....my impression so far is WOW :p...i still want to play really bad, and i hope that i will not run into the same problem you have. i also hope that with the expansion they will improve the macro system...i mean put a builder in or a tutorial at least or something.

but also to aid your cause, i'm pretty sure there are tons of macros for WoW scattered online and on different forums and all that, all you really need to do is google WoW macros or something and i'm pretty sure something will come up.

Macro's were never a problem for me. I didn't miss them. I enjoyed battling manually. I even had one of the hardest classes to play (warlock).

The game is fun for me from 1-59, but after 60 everything's always the same, there's nothing new, and if you don't enjoy or have the time for (bi)weekly 40-man raid dungeons there's really no way to twink your character out. Not to mention playing a Disc/Holy Priest (which is expected of you at 60) is no fun at end game because the second you walk out of an instance you have to go into 'fear-for-your-life' mode.

I really need to reroll horde now, though. I think I've completed all of the Alliance quests, it'll be fun to have some new stuff to do.

My suggestion to you though, if you lost interest after 30, switch classes. They've all got different paces and each have different fast/slow points. Priests are slow until about 20, then they're amazingly fast and easy to level from 20-50 (if you're Shadow), and then 51-60 is just a bitch no matter what way you swing it.

I thought the game was great fun and still do.

I thought the game was boring, slow, and too big. I got bored before I could ever get in-depth simply because it takes a f-cking hour to get anywhere. Highest I ever had was a level 8 troll shaman.

Thank God for WarCraft 3. I play that game everyday.

It's obvious that the MMORPG genre is not for you. WoW is actually the fastest leveling and most technically impressive MMORPG that I've played. Its quest driven gameplay beats the living sh*t out of level grinding.

Re: Why I Left WoW

I thought the game was beyond amazing...

I'm considering reactivating my account now that I've taken a break (I wore myself out after months and months of playing every waking hour I wasn't at work) and got a new job...

I do agree with Canyarion... Around lvl 30-40 or so, the quests do get extremely spread out... There were times when I had like 9 quests in my log, and each one was in a different zone, which really killed my motivation to do any of them...

And of course 60 is a snorefest (The most fun I had was sitting around the opposing force's towns... A crowd would always gather, there'd be dancing and laughing and communicating through the emotes... Until someone at a high level had to go and ruin the fun)...

But after my first character hit 60, it felt like a huge breath of fresh air to start over again as a different class... 'Specially since I could use my 60 to farm for him :>

Most fun I had was with my 60 shadow priest... I didn't do raids, so I was able to stick with the ass-kicking power of the shadow...

Favorite memory would be the time my priest (was somewhere around 58-60) and my 40-something hunter friend somehow took out 2 lvl 60 rogues who got the drop on us... In Un'goro Crater... I remember it like it was yesterday... Damn rogues got what they deserved...

I love WoW and all, but my only downfall is that it's too addicting. That, and it's my brother's.

He wants me to play right now but I've got a week of school ahead so I'm resisting.

You didnt play City of Heroes when Powerlevel'ing was at its worst point, heh. I think the fastest I heard someone went from 1-50 was in 27 hours (lots and lots of herding)
