Best Bloody Mary Ever
Yes, I have finally done it. After years of toiling in frustration I have perfected the Bloody Mary. For your edification I shall list the ingredients:
1 bottle Spicy V8 1 bottle Clamato 4 oz Clam juice Zest 2 Lemons Juice 1 Lemon 1/2 bottle Crystal Hot Sauce* 6 oz Stewed Currants 3 oz Stewed Dried Cherries 3 tbsp Horseraddish 3 tsp Celery Seed 1 tbsp Crushed Balck Pepper 1 tbsp Chesepeake Bay Seasoning 3 Shakes Worchestershire Sauce 6 Olives + brine Add all ingredients except currants and cherries into a large pitcher. Stew currants and cherries in a skillet witha little water untl the water cooks off and the fruits are very soft. Place stewed fruit in a large strainer and with a large spoon mash the fruit until the soft pulp separates from the skins and pushes through the strainer. Scrape pulp into pitcher. The fruit is the "secret" ingredient and 100% necessary to the recipe. Otherwise it just tases like any other bloody mary. Mix and serve with olive, lemon wedge and celery stalk in a glass with a Chesapeake Bay Seasoning encrusted on the rim. ENJOY! * If you want it a little hotter, use Frank's Red Hot instead. A lot hoter, use Franks + Tabasco and Cheyenne pepper. |

Re: Best Bloody Mary Ever
WHOOPS! Almost forgot... finsh with a little fresh ground cinnamon. I know it sounds weird, but it rounds out the flavor nicely.

Re: Best Bloody Mary Ever
The recipe sounds interesting. But I have a question.
Now I'm no bloody mary connoisseur, I've drank a few but have never bothered to know what goes in it (besides the clam juice), but don't they usually include alcohol? Or is the point that you make the bloody mary and then add alcohol to your liking -- ie. what's important is the recipe? Just curious. I'd like to try this. I wish I had a kitchen currently. |

As for ingredients, the main elements to any bloody mary are Tomato Juice, Lemon Juice, Horseradish and Worchestershire sauce... CRAP! I forgot the WC sauce in the recipe! I'll edit it. Anyway, other than that its all to your liking. The Clamato and Clam juice is more of a southern thing (they call it a Caesar) but one that I like as it adds a great briney flavor to the mix that is both salty and tangy and compliments the lemon and tomato. This recipe is just my little contribution to the cast lexicon of Bloody Mary recipes. |
Re: Best Bloody Mary Ever
I think it's a great idea having you list delicious recipes for the community to try. You should take a picture of what the end product should look like so members can compare to their own final product.
Could you give us a recipe for something to eat? Not too fancy, not too difficult, but something that'll send our taste buds into overdrive! I'd even be willing to add a forum here titled, 'The Professor's Kitchen.' A place for you to share and discuss all of your marvelous creations. I'd also like you to begin rating your local fast food restaurants and posting the reviews up here. |

We could have a temporal cooking forum, cause I'd also like to share some simple stuff.

Re: Best Bloody Mary Ever
I'd much enjoy a cooking forum. Considering I'm currently waiting for my friend to graduate, so me and her can go to Culinary school together.
