Would You...

I don't know if this makes sense, but thought about it while at the hospital.

Assume someone asked you a question and they had no idea what the answer is, and they posed this question to you.

Would You
1)Make up what you assume sounds like a fairly reasonable answer.
2)Admit you don't know.

I know most people would say 2, but think about it.
Have you ever tried to impress someone with knowledge you didn't have.

I choose option 3 - I usually say I don't know, even when I know the answer. I'm too lazy to talk.

Re: Would You...

I'm not someone who's really capable of impressing anybody with knowledge, nor am I someone who's particularly impressed by knowledge, so I'm usually fine admitting that I don't know.

Or sometimes I make up a lie that's clearly a lie for humor's sake.
And sometimes I substitute "I don't know" with "I don't really care about that", because that's usually the case...

And other times I do what Bube said...
And sometimes I just pretend like I'm zoning out and didn't hear the question...

I usually admit that I don't know or provide a witty remark.

I usually just speak out of my ass.

And then it ends up sounding like it could be true

Like Swan, I just love making up some believable story. After which I start laughing and tell them it's not true.

Honestly, sometimes even then they still believe it's true.

I make up stories too. Except I never tell them it's false. I'd rather feed them misinformation and then laugh alone in my bedroom several hours later.

Laughing at the expense of someone else is much more rewarding than sharing a laugh.

1 for me, always one. If you make it sound like you know what you're talking about, no one will question it.
