I NEED YORU HELP!
Fellow GTers, Christmas break is almost upon us. Due to the shit economy and some misfortunes I may not be able to hold down a job this winter break. While I could probably go back to my glory days at Jewel or work in a clothing store, I would rather not (what with my IT experience/Engineering internship work).
I need something to do. Yes, there will be movie and TV watching. There will be masturbating and pretzel eating. I might even work on my proposed novel (BaB will get the dirt if it happens). At any rate, I'm disappointed with this generation of gaming. So I want to go back and play some games on the PC/N64/Playstation 1/SNES. I know all the big games on all these consoles. So my question to you guys is this: What are some good UNDERRATED games for the PC/N64/Playstation 1/SNES? I'm talking about games that not everyone has. Games that feature a rich story or single player experience, but didn't get the credit they deserve. If you guys don't deliver I'm going to bust out Diablo 2 or Pokemon Gold. And I hardly consider that productive... |
Re: I NEED YORU HELP!
Even though I've learned not to see games as something productive, ever, I think I have some suggestions.
PC: Aliens vs. Predator. A first person shooter where you play as Marine, Alien and Predator. It may not have the newest combat features, but it's a very solid shooter, it's fun, it's beautiful, it's unique. Playing as an Alien is amazing. The Marine campaign is so scary, especially on the hardest difficulty. Predator owns too. Oh, nice music too (if you can find a copy with the music CD). A must-play if you're a fan of either movie series. PC: Myth & Myth II. Great fantasy strategy games. They're pretty slow games in which you can't build. You're giving a set of units per level. If your units survive, they'll come with you to the next level, with more experience. It uses 2D sprites on a 3D map and it works really well. With the newest patch it even looks kind of pretty, especially for 10 year old games. The gameplay is very satisfying. I really liked the story and the atmosphere. Just stay away from Myth III, which plays terrible. Oh, Bungie made Myth 1 & 2. :) |
Re: I NEED YORU HELP!
I don't mind going backwards, but curious as to what games this generation disappointed your or how.
Not gonna start anything, but second time heard something like this recently. The only game that personally seemed tired to me so far was GTA IV.... |
Re: I NEED YORU HELP!
N64- Mischief Makers
|
Re: I NEED YORU HELP!
Instead of playing oldschool games why don't you just masturbate and eat pre-...oh.....I see.

Re: I NEED YORU HELP!
Dungeon Siege is pretty fun on PC, if a bit mindless.
I like Quest for Nintendo 64, just don't expect Final Fantasy. |

Re: I NEED YORU HELP!
Thanks for all the good feedback guys!
Angrist I have played Alieve vs. Predator :p I have not played Myth or Myth II, but the reviews look good and the gameplay looks interesting so I may need to check that out. Thanks! BreakABone I feel like there's a lack of real innovation...there's been a few jems in this gen, but there's only so much you can do with 3D graphics...right? Part of my search for this old games is the nostalgia factor. I want to feel like a kid again, and the best way to do that is to go hit up my SNES/N64! BlueFire I rented Mischeif Makers a long long time ago (you know...back when people actually rented games). I remember it being fun, but over my head at the time. Since I don't remember it I think I am obligated to go check it out. I remember the art style and music kicking ass, so I think there will be some win right there. Typhoid my normal routine can only get me so far...then i like to mix things up. Fyacin I'm looking at Quest for N64 on IGN, and it looks good. It looks like it might be involved. I may just go all crazy over break and stick with the N64 titles since that's where I'm getting a lot of suggestions. manasecret I know a classic when I read one :P. Gamemaster/BreakABone Don't you guys think there's kind of a perverted weird element to Glover? Either way, I remember when that came out a long long time ago on the N64, I never did play it. It sounds like I can add it to my growing list of N64 games to try to beat this break. Jason1 I haven't even heard of Silicon Valley :p Maybe that is where I should start this adventure. I don't have any preconceived notions about this game. Fox 6 I've ONLY heard good things about Jet Force Gemini. That's definitely a cult classic on the 64, I may have to dig into that over break. I was also recommended Thief 3 by a fellow PCer. The hardest part is always finding a game and sticking with it. I really am feeling this nostalgic calling to go back and conquer some of the old games I have not yet played so I may get rolling on some N64 games. There's also the possibility of Diablo 2 and Pokemon as I said...and I am kind of feeling that Zelda calling. But Zelda is so cliche, I'd rather tackle a new epic adventure. Thanks for the suggestions guys I will check out every game suggested and go from there. |
Re: I NEED YORU HELP!
i don't know if games offered on VC count or you could have played already, but Sin and Punishment is awesome. (Pays Gekko his royalty)
