Do you leave the disc in your Cube?

Like Crono, I had a question. In the Cube manual it says to take the game disc out when you don't use it.

Do you do that? I'm used to doing that b/c I did it all the time with my other Nintendos.

But it sure sux.

I do take out the electricity plug every time. :)

I leave my discs in all the time, I don't think it matters much. And I always leave my GCN plugged in, too...

Some times I leave the disc inside the system becuase I forget about it. After playing games for a long time. But most of the time I take them out.

I used to take them out but recently I've been keeping them in.

games stay in my Cube.... I don't know which is in now, but I'm sure it's either Animal Crossing or NBA 2k3.

I leave it plugged because sometimes I have to set it again. Might as well have it plugged in. I also leave the disc in because I want to go back to where I left off instead of wasting the time of taking it out and then putting it back in. :P

I leave the disc in and I leave it plugged in... *shrugs* I don't see how it could hurt anything (well, at least leaving the disc in)... I left the discs in my PSX and DC all the time... And I've left all my systems plugged in all the time...

The way I see it, leaving the disk in does more help that harm... it protects the lense.

Good point. If one was to remove the faceplate, there you go. But... in the case of an earthquake or someone accidently (I sure damn hope not purposely) kicked the poor cube, Nintendo probably suggested that it was taken out because both the disc and the lens would be scratched. That would be a double loss. :(

I take the disc out every time, but I never unplug it.

And prevents scratching from taking the CD's in and out all the time

I always leave the games in and leave it plugged in. I agree with Bobcat that leaving it in prevents scratching when transporting to and fro from the case to the cube.

I used to take out my '64 cart's all the time, but with my 'Cube I don't since its a disc and its not gonna really do any harm sitting in there waiting for the power button:sneaky::D

Shadow_Link 10-22-2002 08:49 PM

Well, if I'm going to play the game again the next time, I leave it in. And I don't unplug the cube because that would just drain the internal clock battery. The only problem with leaving the cube plugged in would be the risk of lightning causing a power surge or something :D.

This is the way I shut it off though:

- Go to main menu
- Open lid
- Take disk out (after it stips spinning)/keep disk in
- Press the power button off (if disk is still in, wait for it to stop spinning)
- Close lid.

I always turn all the power points in my room off overnight. My stereo has a little standby light which I see at night if I've forgotten. But the AC adaptor for my modem gets pretty warm if left on, and the computer speakers make a low hum even when they're turned off, so I just turn everything off when I go to sleep.

As for disks in the 'Cube, I always leave them in there. Mainly for the issues of damage when putting them in/out all the time as mentioned above.
