Splinter Cell Demo

OH MY GOD! THIS DEMO IS AWESOME!(but short) Damn theres so many things you can do in this game. Although, you don't get to use that cool looking rifle that you see on his back in screenshots. This game may surpass MGS2 if such a thing is possible. Anybody else played it?

Joeiss 11-10-2002 03:38 PM

I saw a guy playing the demo at EB today. The game looks phenominal. I would have loved to play it, but the guy was hogging the station.

GameKinG 11-10-2002 03:53 PM

IMO, it isnt much of a feat to pass MGS2. ;)

Mechadragon 11-10-2002 04:15 PM

Meh, I meant gameplay-wise. As for story, hell "The Three Pigs" would be enough to beat MGS2.

Very true. I am not too big of a fan of these types of games, but let me tell you, Splinter Cell looks amazing .

Didn't like the way it controlled. And definetly hated the camera. Ick, Ick, Ick. People thought Mario was bad.

Gekko, the camera is nearly fully controllable, it was one of the best parts of the demo for me.

I will hopefully receive this game as a present from Santa :)

So was the camera in SMS ;).

No but really, i didn't see the problem with SMS's camera, I like complete controll. So I guess i'll like the camera in this game too :D.

The camera in SMS put you in horrible situations though. Remember the maze behind the amusement park? That was impossible to control, partially because of the corners. In the demo of Splinter Cell I was never put into a situation such as that. I've been able to compare the camera of Splinter Cell and SMS, in my opinion the camera in Splinter Cell is much better.

gekko 11-10-2002 07:10 PM

Splinter Cell camera is the worst I've ever seen. You need to constantly move it for it to be in a good position. It should move into a good position, and then you can move it if needed. It's a ****ty camera.

You'd still be complaining if it moved by itself and it moved into a position you didn't like gekko... can't have it both ways.

gekko 11-10-2002 09:17 PM

I'd rather have it move. Constantly controlling the camera is a bitch. SMS was at least decent. It was down-right amazing compared to this.

No offense Brian I think you're trying to find some sort of ****ing lame ass excuse, like you always seem to do, when you find yourself liking an Xbox game that's not Sega on some level. Granted I've not played the demo, just watched a friend play it who seemed to be having a lot of fun just stacking knocked out bodies and getting enemy AI to find them along with throwing pop cans in trash cans.

As for camera I saw no prob with it and my friend, who's a bigger Anal gamer than even you are, didn't complain. The only thing that jumps to mind that I saw was some is some bizarre artifacting on the shadows and in darkly lit areas and that was because I was sitting near my friend's Sony Wega. That type of game is certainly not my cup of tea, I was more excited about the Orta demo, but it certainly looked excellent. Much better than the crappy port of Substance.
