Nintendo Moves on to Plan C

Well, entering the market at the lowest price didn't help them, dropping the price by 50 bucks didn't help them, now Nintendo is on plan C, they are bundling a free game with the Cube. I guess this is all due to the piss-poo sales of the GCN across the board this holiday season.

I thought they were bundling Super Mario Sunshine with the GCN they had an article about it in EGM last month.

Buyers will be able to choose from four games, including: Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 0, Star Fox Adventures or Mario Party 4.
Metroid Prime is good. Haven't played RE.

Star Fox and Mario Party 4

I would have put Mario Sunshine in replacement of one those last two but that's just my opinion.

If I didn't have a 'Cube, I would get one with Metroid Prime in it. I think that will be the biggest seller when it begins.

The Xbox really outperformed the GameCube in the 4th Quarter (holiday!). So it's probably smart of Nintendo to try to make some of that up.

Pretty soon, Nintendo is going to move on to plan D then E..etc  I hope their sales start picking up soon. Pretty soon their last resort will be to release Pokemon for the Gamecube. Heh.

Joeiss 01-18-2003 09:36 AM

I hope this fails... So they release 4 free games and drop the system to 100 bucks Canadian.... Then and only then will I buy a GCN.

I dont think that nintendo will do anything that drastic. Yet.
:GC: :Nintendo: :Link2:

GameKinG 01-18-2003 02:45 PM

Well having the choice of game is nice.

Angrist 01-18-2003 02:52 PM

They already bundled SMS with it (at least here), but I think it wasn't for free.

This sounds good. Now all they need is some advertising for it. :)

manasecret 01-18-2003 03:40 PM

This is a good plan. After this, people who have been wavering will definitely bu...

OH WHO AM I KIDDING?!

Nintendo is DOOMED!!!!11!! Oh god, WHY?!!??11/!

*runs away crying*

I find the sales intersting because at toys r us, where i work, gamecube outperformed x box by far, and sold at least 4 times what xbox sold.

GameKinG 01-19-2003 12:04 AM

I think the only two store cube out-performed MS in are TRU and Wal*mart

thatmariolover 01-19-2003 12:55 AM

What Nintendo was doing before was packing Super Mario Sunshine with the Indigo system and selling it at $190.00 US. So you were getting $10 off if you bought the package. This way you get the whole game for free.
