Xenosaga and Xenogears ques
 

Hey I have a question I got about 40 bucks and im planning to buy Xenosaga in 2 weeks when in comes out cause alot of people recomended it and it looks pretty cool. But the thing is I never played the first one Xenogears. Will i be able to understand the game since I never played the first?

Xenosaga is a prequel, but I would play Xenogears to get the story in your head.

*Jonbo's Friends say*: Don't even worry about Xenogears until you play Xenosaga. It's a prequel and its set thousands of years before the first one, so you shouldn't miss/not know too much.

Alright thats good cause I was worried that Xenogears came before Xenosaga and I wouldnt understand it.

Contrary to what has been said, Namco assures that Xenosaga is NOT a prequel or a sequel or in any other way connected to Xenogears storyline. Xenosaga is its own series, not tied into Xenogears as some believe. Although, you may find some minor relations between parts of Xenogears's story and Xenosaga's story, little hidden hard to find things that would make some Xenogears veterans go "oh hey, I remember that, cool." dont worry about playing Xenogears (although I do recommend playing it sometime, it is a great game.)

That really sucks, I'll still buy the game. I hear that it is going to be 2 DVD's.

it'll be on a dual layer dvd, not 2 dvds. and why does what I said suck? it doesn't affect the game at all.

I was looking forward to a prequel of xenogears since it's not a prequel like I thought that sucks. But xenosaga is going to be great probably the best ps2 rpg.

even if it was a prequel to Xenogears, there would be hardly anything to connect them story-wise. Xenosaga would be a few thousand years before Xenogears, not much could be connected. but, as I said, you will find some relations between the 2 stories if you look hard enough. Xenosaga is like an unofficial prequel to Xenogears, meaning its not really a prequel, but at the same time it sorta is. confusing stuff, but just pretend that both Xenogears and the Xenosaga series take place in the same worlds.
