California Feels Rumbles...

At 6:39 P.M. a mighty rumble swept through much of California. I was surfing the internet as it occured and I remember being swept and tumbled around my room under the force of the 2 second earthquake. Did any other Californians here feel it? Or anyone who lives in a neighboring state? Describe the feelings you had and the magnitude of the earthquake where you were.

What was the magnitude?

I have felt many-a-earthquake... good ol Cali.

But I haven't felt one in the last year... maybe I don't care anymore or forgot or somthing, because it's never anything big.

There was a mild earthquake in Delaware once....seriously! I heard it wasn't too bad though, I think I was too little to remember.

Every once in awhile you'll hear about some people in the area that suppousedly felt some tremors from a Quake that happened 200 or more miles away...but ive never actually felt an earthquake.

I used to live in California, and now I'm in the Midwest. Went from quakes to tornados. However, quakes (despite the fact that I've only been in small ones) are more frightening than the prospect of a tornado.

Earthquake - knocks down everything in a large radius
Tornado - tears at you during a storm and might change course

Now all I have to do is move to florida, whee.

Where I live we actaully feel small rumbles in the ground because of the mines. It's not often, but it occurs several times a year.

Mines? Bleugh...

Here in the North West, I'm sure everyone's heard of the propheted "Big One" by all the scientists.. we feel quakes something like four times a year. So once that fault cracks, we're all screwed. They said it was supposed to happen around now, but nothing's happened yet. Each little earthquake is almost sort of a relief.

Earthquakes aren't on my mind now though, it looks like the forest fires are doing way more damage up here than anything else. :distress:

Ya, the fires are hitting fairly close to home for me.

And, we get little "2" or "3" mag earthquakes here every so often. Only a couple a year can be felt where I live. On the coast it's more noticable.

Ya, Vancouver Island is supposed to sink to the bottom of the ocean once the "big one" hits.

GameKinG 09-05-2003 08:24 PM

Well there is a earthquake in california almost everyday. Most you dont feel due to it being so deep in the earth.

And yeah , in california they predicted a big one too, but so far it has not happened.

Rndm_Perfection 09-05-2003 08:58 PM

2006, man... something big is going to happen. *gets ready to post in the religion thread about 2006*
