Free PSO?
Seeings as the PSO forum has gone i supose i'll have to post this here. A while back i heard about there being an unofficial free server for PSO that was fairly popular. Until now i hadn't thought much about.
So does anyone know what the address for the server is or any info on it? If you cant post it on the forum because of forum rules then could you PM me please? Thanks |
Re: Free PSO?
That would be nice, I have this strange feeling there would be a lot of cheating going on? Is it worth it to lose all your items and possibly your hard leveled character just to play free?

I have heard rumors of a "free server", but I wouldnt feel safe using it. There would deffinatly be a ton of cheating, and it's probably not legal. I remember when I used to play Everquest, there were some websites that let you play for free, but it wasnt legal, and the service was usually bad and stuff...so yeah. |
Re: Free PSO?
I know there's an unofficial free server on the Dreamcast side..not sure how to get to it but I know there is one (after sega pulled the plug last year on the PSO servers).
Not sure if there is one on the GC side. Maybe google it and see what happens |
Re: Free PSO?
No, I don't think GCN has a full-working one.

Re: Free PSO?
I have a question related to copyright?
Ok... So if a program is Shareware (Like Nexus, and I'm assuming Ragnarok) is it legal to create your own server and run the game? Just wondering. |
Re: Free PSO?
Depends. Would have to either check the EULA/TOS for each program and see if you can. But if you dont want to wade through the many pages of "junk", shoot an email to the creator and ask if you can or can't legally.

Re: Free PSO?
I'd finally have the chance to play online... I'm not going to pay to play this game online.

If Nintendo had a online service in which I could play MK : DD, Super Smash Bros., etc, etc, online, (for free of course), I would deffinatly go for it. But, my recent escapades with FFXI have kind of turned me against online video games, especially MMORPG's. Console's going online...they just werent meant to, I dont think. Back on topic... I dont know if it's legal or not. Dylflon's friends run a free Ragnorok server, so maybe he knows. |
Re: Free PSO?
Well, I know there is the PC version for downloading which I think is what you are talking about. You can download it here:
http://www.bluewav.co.uk/psodownload.htm This one was working too but it's down for some time. http://www.r-base.net/media/ver2/PC/ hmmm!!! Seems to be up now. Well, from playing it myself I know you can play with some of the DC users and it seems Sega did arrange something some one. There are some administrators which check stuff on the game ( I met one myself). Plus they have the quest Sega did so there must be something legal about it. However this game is only EP1 ver. 2. So... the GC and Xbox versions are still better. I hope that helped. Edit: Ohhh, btw, the guildcards sometimes malfunction I hear. If you're looking for your friend you may end up finding John Doe. Also, the download of the game is quite big. 88MB (I think it is) for the game and then 200 or 300 more for the music depending on if you want it hifi or lower quality. I have 56K do I just downloaded the game (took one whole night) and no music. |
Re: Free PSO?
