Firefox 0.9 Released!
This is taken straight out of its press release on the changes.

Download it to test it out:D |
Re: Firefox 0.9 Released!
Be careful, I've been using the release cantidate for a week now and it erased all of my bookmarks after a day.
Plus, keep in mind that most of your themes and extensions aren't going to work any more. You'll have to wait until they're ported. |
Re: Firefox 0.9 Released!
Just downloaded and installed it. It had the option to import all my settings, cookies, etc...from firefox 0.8 to 0.9 and so far it did the job. I can wait for the only theme I use to be updated.
Plus, I exported/backed up my bookmarks to my doc's just in case. You should've done that ;):p |
Re: Firefox 0.9 Released!
hmm...now I'm having a problem. When I click to install a theme, it opens the theme window, shows the default and the theme im downloading and then it removes the theme I'm tryiing to get...

Re: Firefox 0.9 Released!
*finished installing*
I'd just wait a few days before I do all the themes and stuff... Wait for them to settle down and work out any bugs and stuff... *shrugs and walks away* |

I made sure to select the bubble to import them, and then they werent there. *sigh* oh well... |
Re: Firefox 0.9 Released!
All my bookmarks survived the import from 0.8 to 0.9 but I had a backup also just in case.

Re: Firefox 0.9 Released!
They were too jumpy to get this thing released and it's bugridden...

Re: Firefox 0.9 Released!
Dang it Jonbo298 .... so close :D
For extensions: http://update.mozilla.org/ http://extensionroom.mozdev.org/ http://texturizer.net/firefox/extensions/ Extension mirror(alternate mirror) For themes: You will need to update to new theme for Fx0.9 though a work around is possible foe testing themes not setup for theme manager) http://update.mozilla.org/ http://texturizer.net/firefox/themes/ When installing new builds (especially release to release) DO NOT install over previous build otherwise you may encounter unwanted bugs. Back up profile (including bookmarks etc) in case. There are several old extensions that still work fine in latest builds including Fx0.9 (ex: Nuke Anything) ,but thanks to the new manager they won't show up unless they were updated for it. So there is a handy new extension called Show Old Extensions "SOE" that allow the old extensions to be used in the new manager. http://www.pikey.me.uk/mozilla/?extension=soe This Firefox 0.9 release was more for new features and such, so branch builds (based on mozilla 1.7 branch) now to next release is primarly BUG fixing so next release should be best version yet hopefully. http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/roadmap.html |
Re: Firefox 0.9 Released!
Well, I'm still pretty pissed about losing my bookmarks, but on a better note I at least got the Noia 2.0 extreme theme working.

Re: Firefox 0.9 Released!
I see no point to switch my Firefox.....especially when it delets my bookmarks etc.

Re: Firefox 0.9 Released!
No , what i meant is whats different, and dont direct me to the quote, which says everything, because all i was saying is it doesnt seem to be big on my "to do " list because it doesnt seem all too diffrent to me, by reading about it anyways.
Im doin fine with the one i have, its treated me well in the short 2 weeks i have had it, long walks on the beach, candlelit dinners, movies, pizzas, but well none the less, not like Internet Explorer who left me to whore itself out to all the ads. And dont even get me started on MSN messenger, that stupid slut wont even work, its like shes never had a job before, im pretty sure if she ever got around to working, she would take a page from Internet Explorer and start whoring herself out too. |

For example Firefox 0.8 on XP/2000 it should be something like \%AppData%\Phoenix\Profiles\default\xxxxxxxx.slt\ When the default path in Fx 0.9 now for example may be XP/2000: \%AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\* backing up your bookmarks before install a newer build is a good idea too. Another caution DO NOT install Firefox 0.9 on top of Firefox 0.8 without uninstalling/mozing/deleting the Firefox 0.8 or you will have problems such as the UA string showing 0.8 instead of what it should be 0.9 |
Re: Firefox 0.9 Released!
has anyone actually seen a performance increase?
