I think Sports games and fighting games can't be really listed as great games either... but either way I enjoyed it more than Metriod

this year in My EA sports titles I got 8 days in... or 192 hours

... and I haven't even got completly into NBA Live for NCAA March Madness yet. Also, I don't even feel like I have played half the time I played last year.

Games that rely solely on Replay value and not on there "story" or variety of gameplay never get counted at the greats... some do, like Tetris, but most don't.
