Re: Ds Kiosks in stores
I got to sample one yesterday.
I was immediatley impressed with the graphics of the Metroid game. The backlit screen provides for a crisp and clear gaming experience. The Metroid game looks great and moves with fluidity of a well oiled bicycle. After a bit of Metroid, I rebooted the system and entered the Pictochat application. It's pretty cool. Using the stylus was a pleasure in itself. Selecting letters is easy and does not require 100% precision. I can hit them at a pretty good rate and it doesn't give me the wrong ones. Writing on my own was cool too. The writing space could be bigger but given that Pictochat is designed for small IM style phrases and sentences, it should be fine. I can also just try writing smaller.
As for as the screen issues go, there really shouldn't be any. Very little pressure is needed when using the stylus. The lower screen picks it up well. And between the durability of the screen and the material the stylus is made of, your screen should never really get damaged. And if it does, it's because you pressed too hard or hit against something rough or sharp.
After seeing the videos, I can't wait to get Mario. Tomorrow morning I'm going to Target early to get my DS as well as Mario. I'll have pictures and small videos to accompany my hands-on impressions tomorrow afternoon or evening.
