PS2 had a price drop in Japan (29,800 yen). And the GameCube is already cheap (25,000 yen). The Xbox is a heifty 34,800 yen over there. (39,800 yen for the Special Edition one!)

I was at Amazon.co.jp to see what Japanese gamers who bought the system seemed to think of it. Every reviewer gave it either 4 or 5 stars. Most "fell in love with the controller". One guy was really looking foward to Halo. Another happy Xbox owner was amazed at the article he read about how the Xbox would scratch the discs but he had no problems with his. Liked how it doesn't need to use memory cards (calls it cost conservation), and all the other options like ripping music.
