Even in the hey days of the n64 and the Cube, Nintendo had some decent software lined up for the holidays. Wii Music and to a lessen extent Animal Crossing does not count as big holiday releases.
Outside of the first 4 months with Kart, Brawl, Okami, No More Heroes, etc.
This has been a pretty piss poor year for the Wii with only a scatter of decent software over the last 8 months.

In all seriousness, though, you can get a Premium 360 with two games for less than the cost of a Wii if you wait for deals. Nintendo is milking this generation and they're not giving anything back to the consumer in terms of a quality product.
