I go to a local
CrossFit affiliate. We do high intensity functional workouts.
Paleo diet is essentially a low carb diet where you eat like our paleolithic ancestors did. The idea is that our bodies have changed very little since then, but because of the agricultural revolution, we eat totally differently, and it's not good for you.
Things you can eat on the paleo diet are meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, fruit, nuts, and seeds.
Things you can't eat are any form of grain (bread/pasta/rice), dairy, legumes, and sugar. It also endorses non-processed and organic food, but it's not necessary. Dairy is also kind of iffy - paleo man didn't eat it, but for some people it's okay. The odd thing is that most people are lactose intolerant and may not even realize. I still drink some milk because it doesn't bother me at all, and it's a decent source of protein.
Basically you try to eat like you have a bad gluten allergy.
So far I've noticed higher energy levels during my workouts, I'm less hungry between meals, and I've lost a bit of weight.
The downside is that if you do eat something non-paleo it tends to wreck havoc on your system since you aren't used to it anymore. I went home for Thanksgiving and had all the bad-for-you thanksgiving food, and had heartburn for like two days. And I'd never had heartburn before in my life.
