Eh, I've seen that criticism a lot. Many of the characters fit that definition but it mostly makes fun of the culture such as the example Prof gave. I never minded emo or goth or steampunk people or whatever. They just want to wear their clothes and mope.
Hipsters actively try to put you down in regular conversation. It's not hard to be annoyed by them.
I think I could probably watch Scott Pilgrim and enjoy it somewhat, I just thought the references would be a little more cleverly used.
