Default Re: Top 5 Favorite Games of All-Time

My criteria is pretty simple: whichever games I have the fondest memories of, and had the best time playing.

1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

This is such a stereotypical game to have in the first slot, but it has earned this position in every way that a game can earn it. It revolutionized a genre. I had friends in elementary school who I talked to every day about it. I heard the Ocarina songs in my sleep. I had a crush on Zelda. I was the Hero of Time.

2. Pokemon Silver

As great as Red and Blue were, these games were impossibly good. The introduction of day/night was, at the time, a feature which made the game amazing to me. I had a fantasy world which moved along with mine. It was also a game I played with my brother, both of us laying around our bedroom working our way through the same game a the same time.

3. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

I actually played this on the Xbox instead of the PC, since at the time I didn't have a PC that could run it. That meant no mods, no texture packs, no new faces for the horrible looking NPC's. But that didn't really matter to me - I had never really played PC games so I didn't know what I was missing.

I spent a huge amount of time playing this game, and I never once started the main story. I became rich by becoming a master of alchemy, which I did by stealing the equipment needed to make the best potions. I sold those for gold, and rose through the ranks of the Mage's Guild, and after that, the House Telvanni. Along the way I explored caves, forts, or did whatever else I felt like doing.

4. Fable II

Still my favorite 360 game. I loved the story in this one, but more so than that I loved the character and personality of the world. It had a surreal feel to it akin to the feeling I get when reading the Chronicles of Narnia.

I can't begin to express my appointment over Fable III.

5. Team Fortress 2

I think last time I checked I've put over 130 hours into this game. Addictive, simple, and fun. Probably the only FPS I've gotten really "good" at.
