It's OK to like a company or not, but it's wrong to discredit for what it has done. Things are going to change a lot for Rare right now and not one of us can tell if it's for the better or worse (I hope for the sake of gaming that's for better).

Let's look at some of Rare's acomplishments; the things that made it where it is and made us fight about it.

1. Rare made the first game ever to have a 3d perspective on a 2d game platform (some old computers) by using perspective used in paintings to fake 3D in their backgrounds, so you could see a room diagonally not only side scrooling. Not 3D but the first look of it.

2. Rare invented the combo system in fighting games with their first Killer Instinct (which is the best of the series by the way)

3. Rare was the one to breack the SNES graphics capabilities and bring us DK, DK2, DK3, which were probably the best looking games on SNES.

4. Rare was the first company that made a FPS that worked on a console (GoldenEye), and reinvented multiplayer action in FPS with PD

All of this was made because of who Rare was. But Rare won't be that anymore. No more imput from Nintendo's best will not hurt them soo much since they inovated all of the things above without their help. But designers leaving prior and after the deal to independent firms, managment changes because of the buy, and other things that come unespected because of these will make a big impact on what Rare will become.

As a Nintendo fan, I don't like to see Rare gone.
As a general gamer I see why Nintendo let them go, because all this talent only showed once a year, and the profits aren't what they expected.
As a game lover I hope to see Rare rise out of this even better, even though that might take quite some time. If not, then at least I want to see the people that were Rare go on and do the same thing somwhere else, giving us better games to enjoy.
