Kojima is working on MGS3. He said he didn't really want to make the game for the current gen (PS3 was his target), but the fans' 'demands' for the game are high enough to convince him to get working on it now, on PS2. Nothing is officially announced or anything, but there is that interview with Kojima.
And making MGS4 (or whatever) a launch title would be tricky. Kojima's team likes to research the hardware, and take time to produce the game. If the next Nintendo system comes out no later than 2006, development kits would have to be ready quite a long while before that in order for MGS4 to be a launch title.
But I still don't see how this series would be leaving Playstation
