My method is a little different (Human)
Put 3 workers on gold, build a barracks and altar with the others (and train 2 workers) then make the other one build a farm and make the other one for wood.
Then start from there. It works out very well.
Undead I put 3 on mine, then build barracks, zigg, altar etc
