Actually most Artists dont even care. the musicians themselves make VERY LITTLE off cd sales.

Recording artists have watched their record royalties erode over the past few years ("My Van Halen royalties are history," said vocalist Sammy Hagar), but, in fact, few musicians earn the bulk of their income from record sales.
"Bruce Springsteen probably earned more in 10 nights at Meadowlands last month than in his entire recording career," said rocker Huey Lewis.

The RIAA did not initiate these lawsuits to defend artists' rights, the musicians say, but to protect corporate profits.
"For the artists, my ass," said Draiman (of Disturbed). "I didn't ask them to protect me, and I don't want their protection."

and many more quotes.
Further more most of the music artists themselves dont like what the RIAA is doing. (they may not believe in filesharing) but they surly dont like the RIAA going around and sueing THIER fans. thats not good for any musician if thier fans get sued.
There was a nice little thing on CNN about it the other night, even CNN says the RIAA wont win, and eventually they will have to use filesharing to help them, instead of fighting it.
