Thumbs up So, who's bought GBA SP?

I picked one up this morning, the silver colored one. I like it a lot. It's small but it fits your hands well, or at least mine. The screen seems bigger but it's just an optical illusion, its the same size as the regular GBA. The fold down screen technology was well done, it doesn't feel cheap or loose. The built in light is better than any third party attachment out there (except for Afterburner? I'm not sure, never used a GBA with it). It comes charged up in the box so you can play it immediatley. If you buy it at Target, you get Driver 2 free. If you buy it at Best Buy, you get a free carrying case. The buttons are deep set so when you fold the screen down, they don't touch the screen. And the screen has two little bumps in the corners so that the screen never actually touches when it folds up. The volume is now controlled with a switch that slides similar to the power button switch. I actually liked the dial better because it's easier to adjust the sound level but it's cool. Your fingers naturally rest upon the R and L buttons so their is no issue there.

I guess my only complaints are the absence of the headphone jack (which is a very tiny, tiny, complaint since I hardly ever use headphones). And the location of the start and select button. They're way down at the bottom of the control area which doesn't seem very far when you see a picture but when you're playing the game it's out of reach but most games don't make heavy use of these two buttons. But the postive things about this Gameboy far outweight the negatives so I'm very happy with it.

GBA SP =

Who else got it? Give me your impressions.

I got it. Love it, except no e-Reader. But that's just a minor issue.

Also, take care of it, the paint does scratch.

What do you mean by no E-Reader gekko? Do you mean that you don't have one, or that it can't be used with SP?

I think I read somewhere that you can use the E-Reader (I think they were talking about using it with Animal Crossing). But I think you can still hook it up, but if you link it to the 'Cube, you're supposed to use the link port on the other side of the GBA SP. But I can't find the source where I can confirm what Im pretty sure I read somewhere.

I was going to get it, because I could play it at night and hook up the GBA:SP to the Gamecube for Animal Crossing. Ah well, I have an E-reader, but If I have any cards, I'll just use my other gameboy.

I'm planning to buy it tomorrow

Thats strange, I could've sworn I read somewhere that you can use the E-Reader with the SP...

Anyways, somebody who has it, tell me if the screen scratches as easily as the Gameboy Advance one did.

I can't answer that for you Jason, I'm taking every precaution not to scratch it. I'm going to assume no because when it's folded down, it's less likely to get scratched than a standard GBA. Ask gekko, he's already chipped the paint on his

Well I found out the e-Reader does work. I always thought it needed to go down into that port to operate, but in reality, it's just too big, so they have the port being an extention to the top. On the SP, the port goes just barely above the system, and then you can use the normal port on the SP. Weird, but it works.

I have not chipped the paint on mine, but know people who have imported it, and have.

9-10 hours with the light on.

18-19 hours with the light off (normal GBA battery life).
