My Letter to Nintendo Power

Hey guys, I'm submitting this letter to NP, and I want someone to proofread it. I want to make sure it is mistake/error free, including spelling, grammar, and word usage. It's not too long, so it shouldnt be a real big deal.

Dear Nintendo Power Readers,

I've been a subscriber to Nintendo Power for a very long time, for over seven years in fact. I've seen the metaphorical fires and rain in Nintendo Power's history. I watched in awe as Golden Eye 007 climbed to the top of the charts, and refused to let go. I felt my heart jump and twitch when I first ran my fingers down the laminated cover of the Ocarina of Time issue. I let my eyes be gilded by the fiery words inside each issue, watching as the text immortalized my childhood in it's pages. My mind was utterly captivated by everything this magazine gave me, but none so much as the Player's Pulse section. Within it's hallowed columns I was able to read what my fellow gamer had to say. I didn't own a computer, so the Player's Pulse section was my portal into the minds and opinions of people who loved the same thing I did: games.

But lately I have begun to notice something that both shocks and shames me. The quality of these letters submitted to Player's Pulse has slowely but surely declined. It's nearly impossible to find a letter that doesn't include the brackets, "[ ]", where the Nintendo Power editors had to fill in words or even entire phrases that the original writer forgot to include. The letters that I read in today's magazine disgusts me. These letters represent the entire gaming community, yet it appears that a five year old is composing them on a 1st grade writing level. If I'm going to be represented in a magazine, in front of the entire world, I want to be portrayed intelligently. With today's technology, there is no excuse for these pitiful skeletons of a letter, and my fellow gamer has no right to degrade the entire community in whis way. These terrible letters hurt the reputation of gamers, and totally discredit anything that the writter has written. If they can't even manage to write a letter properly, why should I believe anything they are writing about, or even take it seriously? Not only this, but they are giving evidence to the terrible stereotype that gamers are lazy and do badly in school, because they "rot their brains." This is my call to action to everyone who reads and writes to Nintendo Power: Take time when you write your letters. Proofread them, and have someone else read it before you submit it. It's not too late to gain back the respect you have managed to so easily lose. The next time you decide to take the weight of the entire gaming community's opinion on your shoulders, live up to the task, or don't do it at all.

wow man, how often do you SEE nintendo power??? because i think you guys are more than just friends...

nothing really stuck out grammar-wise.

The letters that I read in today's magazine disgust[NO 's'] me.

I want to be portrayed intelligently [you might want to rephrase that, it took some time before I understood]

and totally discredit anything that the writ[NO 't']er has written. [writer and written in 1 sentence isn't pretty... perhaps 'writer has composed'?]

and writes to Nintendo Power: [no capital 'T'?]ake time when you write your letters.

you have managed to lose so easily. ['so easily' after 'to lose'?]

About you opinion:

but letting somebody else proofread it for you might be a bit to much... you could say 'and perhaps have someone else read it before you submit it.'

I guess that gamer should be gamers to fit with the context of the sentence.
