Favorite Gaming Moment
Wow.........who would have thought that I would have started a thread here. Well, I have, so hooray for me (I guess).
I was just thinking about some awesome gaming moments I've had over the years. Lots of things came to my mind, ranging from the first time I played Donkey Kong to the first time I experienced Mario 64, and I can honestly say that I have had some awesome gaming experiences.
Gaming has seriously enhanced my life, and I've had some great moments.
This is just a great moments gaming thread. Just post your greatest gaming memories!
Ocarina Of Time brings back some great memories. I remember spending a lot of time on that game, to the point where it basically took over my 5th grade life. I remember getting to the top of Ganondorf's castle, and fighting him. I was pretty disapointed after I beat him, you know, it was basically the same fight as in the Forest Temple.....and then the castle fell apart. Well, at least I got to escape through the castle. That proved to be pretty intense, but I wasn't expecting what happened after I got out of the castle. I remember sitting there, wondering why the hell the happy credits weren't rolling. And then came the real boss fight. That was pretty awesome.
I also remember playing Doom, back when I was like 8 or 9 years old. That was a scary game. My friend and I would sit in his basement, and eat candy, and watch as the summer days went by. We'd play Doom, and listen to Kill 'Em All. Those are some of my fondest memories.

Re: Favorite Gaming Moment
I have fond memories of WarCraft 2. Aaaaaah we (brother and me) loved that game! The sound effects, the music, the atmosphere... ^_^
I relived that with WC3, which was different but perhaps even cooler.
Perfect Dark come to mind. The singleplayer was great... and the multiplayer with 3 friends.....
And of course the NES Mario games! I was 7-12 years old when I played those...
And like KG says, Ocarina of Time. How lovable!!! I remember the first time I met a wolf, I was so scared!!
Good stuff, videogames.

Re: Favorite Gaming Moment
My fondest memories were playing Sonic 1, 2, and 3 with my friend. The music was cool for some of the levels. Then I also liked playing Streets of Rage 1 and 2 with my friend along with Captain America and the Avengers. Basically playing cooperative type games with my friends during childhood summers are my greatest memories. Other games included the Ninja Turtles, Ren and Stimpy, Joe and Mac, working together as a team was just really fun. Oh those endless summer days, reminds me of the 'What Do You Miss Most' thread, man I wish I could go back in time. If I had the choice to stay in that period too, I think I would now knowing what life is like when you get older. Even considering it would mean not having internet or all of today's technology and advanced gaming, I'd still choose to go back in a heart beat.

Re: Favorite Gaming Moment
My favorite memory was in a tournament for Street Fighter III: Third Strike. I had just defeated a player using Chun-Li with Makoto (my character), when a whole new round was starting up. My next opponent was a player that eventually won the whole thing, so you can tell that I got my ass handed to me on a silver plate. His character was Urien, (HOW I DESPISE ANY WHO USES HIM!) He, of course, defeated me with ease, but I wasnt out of the tournament yet; there was a losers bracket, and got to face the same guy that I defeated in the first round, you can tell that I DESTROYED him. I learned so much for just being in a tournament. And also that was my first one too !
Ah, memories truly are forever.

Re: Favorite Gaming Moment
My favorite was fairly recent, I was playing Halo, I was driving a Wart Hog and there was a guy in the Gunners seat and i guy in the Passenger seat. I drove up to a building and an elite throws a plasma grenade on the Wart Hog. The passenger and i jumped out, but the guy on the Machine gun stays in there, the grenade explodes and sends the Wart Hog over a cliff, as its fallling the guy on the Machine gun says " Is that all you got?!" Then he fell off and died.

Re: Favorite Gaming Moment
Mine happened like a little less than a year ago. I was playing MGS2 in the tanker part of the game. Right when you enter the boiler room area there is a guy just short of standing at the edge. I snuck up on him held him up. Stole his dog tags and then booted him off the edge. He then fell two stories and landed on another guy.
Good times.

Re: Favorite Gaming Moment
I have a few moments I that I will treasure forever:
The first time I played Mario 64. I hadnt owned a SNES, so you can imagine how much in awe I was when I went from NES graphics to N64 graphics. I was in Wal Mart playing the demo, and it took a hold on me. It would be some time until I got an N64 for myself, but I finally did and I can remember playing Mario 64 at home...great times.
I also remember the day I got OoT. It was a christmas gift, and as soon as I opened it (it was my first gift) I ran into my bed room and put it in and started playing it, leaving all my other presents there. So if you watch the home video from that christmas, it shows a little kid in PJ's in a rocking chair, then a second later all you see is a chair rocking with no one in it.
That whole game was like one huge magical moment though. I felt so said when Link had to leave Sara, and I actually had a crush on Zelda when I first saw her, and I could hear Zelda's Lullaby in my sleep. I remember meeting the Zora's and the Gorons, fighting to save the hand of my fair lady, and returning to the lost woods as a man to meet my friend of childhood.
There are other games that deserve an honorable mention...Star Fox 64, Pokemon Red, Mario Bros., Final Fantasy Tactics, and Xenosaga.

Re: Favorite Gaming Moment
I would have to say doing a fake throw in SF2:WW with Guile.
I nearly collapsed from sheer (sp?) excitement.
And I did it on the car (after doing down heavy kick).
Console wise Mario 64/Ocarina of Time/Sonic 1/Super Mario World, Mike Tysons Punchout and the original Zelda were all great memories.
Also on C64/Amiga:-
Handy Andy, Leasure Suit Larry, Druid, Gauntlet, Super Sprint, Ikari Warriors, Wonderboy 1 and 2......
and many more i'm sure

Re: Favorite Gaming Moment
God, there's so many...but I'll try to name a few.
First thing that comes to mind is no doubt playing Super Mario bros. In my basement at my old house with my friend down the street when I was probably 3 or 4. We barely knew what we were doing, but we had so much fun...he would come over every day and we would try to figure out how to get past that damned goomba that runs at you at the start of level 1-1. When we finally figured out that you had to jump over him, well, a lot of excitement was had by the both of us. How far we've come...
I remember playing Sonic the Hedgehog on the genesis at my cousins house on christmas night, many christmases ago. Man, what a cool game, there was really nothing else like it...so fast.
Of course, how could I forget Mario 64. How long I ran around in that courtyard before I even bothered to go into the castle, I'll never know.
Another thing that I think of is Grim Fandango. Now theres a game that left me downright breathless multiple times, a true masterpeice.
And of course there is the mother off all gaming memories, basically everything from Ocarina of Time. Parts that come to mind instantly are when you first leave the forest as a kid and siara gives you the Ocarina...I do believe I was slightly in tears during that moment, and a few others from Ocarina of time, no game has ever done that to me, at all, thats why Ocarina of Time is the greatest game ever made. And probably my greatest gaming memory ever.

Re: Favorite Gaming Moment
Skipping school on Doomsday (9/9/99), waiting in line for Best Buy to open to buy my DC. Then going back and playing Sonic Adventure all day long.
Though, getting the 120th star in Super Mario 64 was a close second.

Playing Mario 64 in Toys R Us and wanting a N64 so badly is one of my memories, playing Goldeneye with all my buddies and kicking their a$$es is my close second.

Sounds like this:
In Turok on N63, I shot a tree and it collapsed on a raptor. Pwnd!
Perfect Dark has some magic moments in singleplayer. Just hearing a guard say 'gunshots! ' was soooo funny!
Or in the submarine level, you can shoot 1 guard through the glass of a door, then the other guard will look at him. Once he said: " Ah, didn't like him anyway!" MAGIC!!!

Amen, I hear you.
I was thinking and I remembered a few more moments in gaming that sent me in erratic pleasure.
I was playing Perfect Dark multiplayer with my brother, and we each had as many hard sims on our teams as we could fit. I was using the shotgun and I had it set to double shot mode. Two of my brothers men were running down the corrider in front of me, and I pulled the trigger, hitting the first one in the head, and I quickly tapped the joy-stick to the left, sending the second automatic shot into the other guys head.
Also, here is my strongest memory from xenosaga:
*spoilers*
I was playing Xenosaga Episode I for the first time, and Albedo kidnapped MOMO. She was one of my three favorite characters in the game, and I used her all the time. I thought she was a cute little girl, and I loved her character and the almost made me feel like she was my younger sister that I was looking out for. Albedo kidnapped her and it showed them in the Song of Nephalim, and he was torturing her. It shows him stick his hand into her lower stomache (actually, the camera is too far up, so you cant really see what he's doing), and then she starts screaming and he does this wierd mental thing were he starts taking her consience from her.
It was the first time in any game that I actually wanted to kill the bad guy. I hated Albedo. This is one of the two games that have ever evoked such powerful emotions from me. I actually cared about the characters in this game.
*end spoilers*
