The whole thing is to compare how the human race has changed and grew over time. who knows, in the future you just might be one of those " Back in the day " people wondering how all the things that you knew about your era have slipped through the cracks.
EDIT: Eveyone remembers the bad things, they just dont want to talk about them. When was the last time someone said " Hy Lets talk about Nazis and killing jews" ?
