I hate internet abbreviations when the person has time to write the whole thing out. However, when playing online games I often have people say "ns" (nice shot) and reply with "thx" or the other way around. It's handy because I don't get fragged just for being courteous.

But yeah, in an environment where it can be easily avoided, abbreviations are teh suxor!!11!1!!11!
