MGS: Twin Snakes was the last game they developed, but ED was their last original game.

Assuming Too Human is released this year, there will have been about a 6 year gap between it and Eternal Darkness.

Their last game before that was Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen... Which came out about 5 1/2 years before ED, in '96...

So that just seems to be how they roll.
