Devil worshipers

There's something I don't quite understand about this whole devil worshiping business. I've seen enough movies to know that the devil will grant people favors sometimes, but he always screws them over in the end. This seems totally counterproductive to me. If one of the devil's purposes is to convince people to join his side, he'd be better off actually following through with his favor granting. Most people don't want to join someone who will stab them in the back.

The devil really needs someone to manage his brand image. At the moment he's just involved in one PR disaster after another.
