i've read lotr and i assure you, reading those will only enhance the movies for you. there is so much in the book left out and so much detail that couldn't be shown at the movies! i read blackhawk down too and once again, they left out tons. the book gives you the story from both sides, detail about families, friends, and more. i wanted to read we were soldiers once...and young but didn't have time
anyway.....what i'm saying is that reading the book won't ruin things for you, it will make them better and you'll be happy you read the book and know more stuff about the story than the avg moviegoer
the signs is what dh said. its supposed to be pretty good and i doubt there will be a suprise ending cause his last movie got a lot of criticism for that.
