Re: Thoughts on the Ps3
The PS3 is a pretty hollow console. I never get the same satisfaction from playing my PS3 as I get from my 360.
I think the achievements, even if you wouldn't admit it, make a big difference. And the fact that Xbox Live is 15.6 times better than PSN.
I also think that the controller makes a console more enjoyable. I really hate the PlayStation controller, with it's wide-ranged analog sticks. The 360 analog sticks are more firm, which seems to give me more control.
And the marketplace is much much better.
Although having said all that, being Blu-Ray compatible and more reliable, and since it has quite a few good games, I still love my PS3, and I'm glad I bought it..

Re: Thoughts on the Ps3
I only meant PS3 to Gamecube because GCN was the "underdog" last gen. PS2 and Xbox always got the more mass appealed games. PS3 still is, but it's not the main focus most of the time.

Re: Thoughts on the Ps3
There's not really a lot of games on PS3 but then again the games on 360 are generally generic pieces of shit. There's nothing really impressive on any console I've found. I've got all three and I play none.

Re: Thoughts on the Ps3
Figured, I fire the old thing up for some games today seeing how you know... I bought it for as much.
And came across Heavenly Sword before I found Ratchet and Clank. It is a fun game, but I have my issues with using the little sister as I'm just awful with the after touch arrows. Goo game though.

Re: Thoughts on the Ps3
Well, I've decided. I'm definitely getting a PS3 within a month or so. I'm getting a sizable refund on my taxes and I can't come upon a decent amount of money without blowing some of it.
I'm hesitant though. I'm worried I'm going to get a PS3 and then Sony is finally going to come through with the long rumored price drop. Right now, Game Stop is giving a fifty dollar gift card with purchase and that's tempting, but I've seen better deals not too long in the past, so I'm hoping something a little better comes down the pipeline.
Looks like the first game I'm going to get will be Little Big Planet. Any others I should pick up?

Personally, I say Valkyria Chronicles, if you've ever played a Fire Emblem-type game or shooting game. But you could also do great with Uncharted, GT5: Prologue, or Virtua Fighter 5.

Re: Thoughts on the Ps3
I haven't played a lot of games on the PS3, but Uncharted was great. Talking about it makes we want to play it again..

Re: Thoughts on the Ps3
I'm going to re-ask a question since I didn't get a satisfactory answer.
Is now a good time to buy a PS3 or should I wait for the long-rumored price-drop?

Don't quote me on this, but it's been "long rumored" for a reason. It wont happen.
I remember when I bought my second PS3 2 years ago, I was worried they'd drop the price the week after. They didn't.
If you want something, get it.

I don't know if this counts as a price drop, but goes towards helping you out.
This week at Best Buy if you buy an 8 gig PS3 you get, LittleBigPlanet, Killzone 2 or MLB 09 for free.
Hey, its 60 bucks and one game you wanted anyhow.

Re: Thoughts on the Ps3
I think the issue for me is I can't justify spending the money. I have a Wii and a 360 and that suits me more then fine. My roommate bought a PS3 and neither of us play it. We play our Wii more then we play our PS3 and that's saying something.
I think the 360 is the best console of this generation so far. Regardless of the sales figures.

That shows the sales of the 3 consoles for the last year (Americas). Judge for yourself if you think it would be wise for Sony to lower the price now.
For the last 6 months, the PS3 has sold less than the 360, before that it was about even. Are Sony happy enough with this? Do they think a price drop could boost sales enough to make a bigger profit?
I don't think they have enough hardware selling software to be sure of that. I don't know what kind of games are coming up, but maybe they'll lower the price when there's some kind of blockbuster game (I don't know, maybe God of War 3?). And maybe they'll wait till Christmas, which is more than half a year away.
But judge for yourself, I'd feel pretty guilty if you bought one and the next week there'd be a price drop.
