Default Avatar Trailer

August 21st will be "Avatar day", which means that Fox the distributor of the movie will show for free 15 minutes of the movie in as many I-max theaters as possible, all around the world.

I think the trailer will also show up on internet after that day.

A few weeks ago a friend and I went to the theaters. We saw the trailer for Avatar.

Now my friend later says to me: 'That was weird, it started with live action, and then it turned into computer-animation.'

Which made me realize how bad the CGI graphics are.
Another realization came when I saw Star Wars: Episode 1. The CGI-created creatures look so real that you don't notice it's CGI. Even in Jurassic Park you didn't notice it. Those movies are 10 and 16 years old.

HOW IN THE WORLD can Avatar look worse than those??? Somebody please explain.

(I have my own explanation: they purposely made the trailer look bad. Now when the movie launches, it will look much better. People will be so excited about how good it looks... forgetting that it looks the same as technology from 10 years ago.)

Original JP didn't use much CGI. It was all animatronic (sp?). JP2 I think mixed both, and JP3 was all CGI (correct if wrong). CGI still has a ways to go to reach the point that it's hard to see a difference.

You're wrong.

All JPs use both animatronics and CGI. Animatronics usually for close-ups, CGI for the rest. So even in the first JP it was mostly computer graphics, maybe 80%?

Doesn't change my point anway... there are CGI movies that look way better than the incredibly hyped Avatar.

I think I'll stay spoiler-free from this point on. (The point before the trailer.)

Also, I think it will disappoint, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

Still haven't seen the movie...but apparently a number of folks who did saw my Smurf pic from back in August:

this totally and completely and openly mocks and disgraces probably the best movie to be made this decade, possibly this century. hell, i doubt you even saw the damn movie.

I hate this, this is disgraceful to the beauty of the movie!
And then a lot of folks saying I copied it from some South Park ep.

Just cool to get replies to something I did from strangers. Now I gotta find new ways to make them angry.
