That's the 80s for ya...
All the post-Sabbath stuff, including Iron Maiden, was heavily laden in
cheese. The genre still has its fair share of cheese. I have always felt that it is done tongue-in-cheek, although sometimes I'm not so sure myself.
It took Slayer/Death/Metallica/Napalm Death to move metal in a more "serious" direction.
Anyway...back to Dio. The man had an epic set of pipes. That much is for sure. And
Heaven and Hell was one of Sabbath's best albums, purists aside.
