Re: Perfect Dark Zero "Blew Gamespot Away"
I remember that I played Perfect Dark for the 64 only once, and I wasn't that impressed. True I only played the multiplayer mode, but still...
Left me kind of...unsatisfied...felt like I had to fake some sort of pleasure...

I remember in english class the teacher asked this girl why she was absent the day before. She said she hurt her eyes playing too much Perfect Dark. Everyone in class nodded it a justifiable reason.

Considering Rare's track record starting from SFA to the XBox games (one of which was a remake of a game that didn't need it, the other of which apparentely sucked) I still stand by that statement.
And I have said nothing against XBox or XBox360, at least not since the console early last generation... So, no, you're not documenting years of anti-Xbox/Xbox360 rhetoric, but anti-Rare rhetoric, which are quite different. This is fortunate since otherwise the Xbox's library would be very very bare.

Oh snap.
Yeah, I bought it with Mario Kart 64 a week ago to get ready for Mario Kart. God, you might have fuzzy memory of it, but it was literally 15 fps in some spots. And worse.

It's a shame that this game is getting pushed out at launch when it clearly could have used more time polishing and tuning. Then again, Rare's had years to make this game, and I'm not sure extra time wouldn't have just dragged out the inevitable. Perfect Dark Zero is what it is -- something of a throwback, something of a vanguard. It's not a must-buy yet from what I've seen (and true enough, we've had a lot of laugh at spots that weren't supposed to be funny ... there's plenty that haters will hold over it to keep fans wincing for years) but if you sit down and play it, PDZ looks to be a game that can deliver decently over the long run.

Microsoft paid each website a million dollars to boost the scores.
You heard it here first, kids.

What, blasphemy!
But what about our beloved Halo 2? Surely that deserved its ridiculously high scores!

Re: Perfect Dark Zero "Blew Gamespot Away"
I've read mixed opinions on PD0. Some think it's the greatest thing ever while others think it's utter crap. I've heard words such as "boring" and "wonky" in reference to it. It just depends on your taste I suppose.

Re: Perfect Dark Zero "Blew Gamespot Away"
I can tell you one thing, a review is a review and opinions are opinions. I played PDZ at my local Gamestop Xbox360 kiosk and it wasn't looking next-gen to me. What I saw was an exact representation of Ken Kutaragi's statement.... Xbox 1.5
I take a look at the other games for Xbox 360 and those just look amazingly sick in terms of visual and smooth gameplay. I didn't enjoy PDZ at all...
You can take what you will from that Gamespot review, I stand by my opinion. There are sicker games out there for the 360, PDZ isn't one of them.

Re: Perfect Dark Zero "Blew Gamespot Away"
I said that comment because it resembled nothing of the original. Granted, its a prequel and N64 is different from the 360 but hopefully you get the point.
Plus, those comments were made MONTHS ago before we even saw the final product. Hell, if Rare had PDZ playable at E3, I may have said different.
So stop thinking past comments are still 100% current. Things do change Bond

I actually heard that the editor in chief of Gamespot woke up with his dog's severed head in his bed accompanied by a note stating: "PD0 is amazing... riiiight?
XBOX 1S TEH SUCKS!1!1!!1! nINTENDO 1S TEH RULE$!1!1!1!!!!! DEATH TO GATESGATE!1!1!!!! THE EV1L EMP1RE IS REAL!!1!1!!! SHADOW GOV RUNS OUR L1VE$!!!!!
WAAAAAUUUUGGHH!!!

Re: Perfect Dark Zero "Blew Gamespot Away"
Well I'm glad Rare didn't go completely to waste. Grabbed by the Ghoulies was not promising for them.
Once they release Banjo Kazooie 360, I'm pretty much sold.

Re: Perfect Dark Zero "Blew Gamespot Away"
Considering that Perfect Dark: Zero was in development for 10 years and that it was touted by many as THE killer app for the Xbox 360, I'd say that a ranking of 87% on GameRankings.com is kind of a disappointment. What's really interesting is GameSpot's review is actually the second highest rating there (some site called Talk Xbox gave the game 97%). GameSpot is normally on the low end, but I guess in this case they just really liked it. It should also be noted that as of this post, IGN Xbox hasn't had their say yet.
Also, some might say Kameo is getting good reviews. But that kind of depends on what your definition of good reviews is. How does 77% do for you?
I stand by my original statements. It appears so far that while Rare doesn't produce absolute crap, Perfect Dark: Zero is no Goldeneye (or even Perfect Dark) and Kameo is no Banjo Kazooie.
And let's also keep in mind that Star Fox Adventures initially had really high reviews. But you'll have a hard time now finding many people who still think it's great.

Re: Perfect Dark Zero "Blew Gamespot Away"
What is up with the hate for Star Fox Adventures, anyways. I definitely thought it was great.
I think people are just wimps when it comes to collecting.
I beat it in a weekend so I didn't find it dragged out too long.

Re: Perfect Dark Zero "Blew Gamespot Away"
The important thing here is that Bond targeted several people and in one way or another, we've all given him a severe pwning in his very own thread. He set himself up with the assumption he'd be able to wriggle free with some very misplaced and innappropiate egotism. And now looking back on this thread, he's the one who's been ****ed over the hardest. I guess he was absent from the 'ol Catholic school on the day his righteous teachers taught the old adage, "practice what you preach."
