Ouch, D-Real, Ouch, I'm really hurt.
You can call me all the names you want... slow, retarded, whatever... is it going to change my opinion? No.
"Horrible controlls are those that hampers a game, gets into the way of gameplay, and makes the game occasionally unplayable by it's own nature. Not the nature of another game, it's OWN nature.
Would the controlls hamper Halo? You bet!(No)
Hamper Golden eye? Yes (No)
Hamper ANY FPS? absolutely. (Not every one)
Metroid Prime on the other hand, plays differently, it's controlls exploit and revolve around the nature of the game? You wouldn't be rushing through MP looking to claim or dodge head short. "
I guess I'm too closed minded to look past the controlls... last time I checked, controlls are a big part of gameplay...
In your opinion there is no such thing as a bad button layout?
"I've seen numerous videos, where various players were ripping through the game, battling enemies, aiming, jumping and what's not with absolutely no problem at all. Clearly the controlls become second-nature after a while. Second-nature is not a way to describe horrible controlls. It is however, it IS a way to describe controlls you become quite comfortable with.
I wonder if it had anything to do with the fact that you spent a life-changing set of minutes with de demo.
Game, if numerous people manage to manuver and handle the controlls perfectly and with incredible ease, I'm inclined to believe it's something ANY gamer can do. Unless of course, you're a bit slow. These aren't gifted people, they are "normal" gamers like you and I."
Um, er... I've seen people who can get 27 million point combos on THPS4 after playing it for a while... I can get 1 million. Just because somthing becomes 2nd nature to one person it doesn't mean it will become 2nd nature for everybody. Does it?
If I sit down with a random football game for 2 hours, and you sit there the same 2 hours, will be 100% just as good at controlling the game? Will the game become 2nd nature to you as easy as it becomes 2nd nature to me? I highly doubt this.
Does that make you slow in any way? No, you just aren't used to controlling a football game. Just like I'm not used to controlling a FPA. If it had controlls like Timesplitters I would have had a much easier time going through the Demo.
I played for 15 minutes (within 2 tries) and the controlls just felt like crap.. maybe in 2 seconds you played it and the controlls felt great. I guess that just makes me slow though huh? IMO, the controlls are so bad and so off that I don't even want to get used to them.
"I understand it's YOUR opinion, but ask yourself, could a player do that if the controlls were horrible as you said or had any real problems at all? Maybe, the problem isn't the game/controlls, but it's you? "
Just refer back to my THPS example. That's why it's MY opinion. Do you even believe in the word "opinion"? I mean, I'm slow and retarded because in my opinion the controlls suck? BEcause it's hard for me to play with those controlls? Just because one guy can control a game great it doesn't mean everybody can, and it doesn't mean everybody will learn to.
Did I hop to my judgement too fast? Maybe. But I wasn't interested enough in the GAME itself, and I didn't like the GAMEPLAY enough to want to learn how to play great. If the game had a great angle (like Halo) I wouild keep playing until I learned how to control it good... but was metroid good enough to force me to learn these new controlls? Hell no.
So, Like I said before, my opinion stands... if it gets over a 9.5 from IGN, it's a rent, if not, I'm not touching it.

It's gameplay on the other end is evolution at it's finest... at least, that's the impression I got so far from those who played more than a mere store demo.
I won't stand to be late with this game like I have been with some others. I already pre-ordered. [/b]

Yes this is why I am so excited about the game. Looks so good! If it gets a 9.0 and above from IGN, I'll definitely buy it, anything under I'll have to strongly consider buying it (that's how I am with 90% of my games). I use IGN and Hyper magazine as a warrant for my purchase.
The Game just give it a chance. Be more open minded and play the full version of the game for at least 4 hours or so. You could be missing out on an excellent gaming experience. But it is your opinion so I can't make you rent/buy it
I used to be narrow minded about the FF series. Played VII (first RPG i played) and didn't like it at all. Actually I took it back Then about 6 months later, I thought I'd give it another go (coz I heard people talking about how good an rpg it was).
I understood the game a lot better, became patient with the typical RPG style of playing, and now it's one of my fave games ever.
So it just goes to show sometimes even if you don't like a game after playing it for some time, you should read reviews, and read other peoples opinions of why they like the game, then decide. That's what I did with FF, and it worked

I think IGN will probably give it a 9.6 or above. Matt screams best game this generation, while Fran...well...you can read it in the IGN article.

Yes, the IGN editors are pissing their pants over this game. I would be very shocked do see anything less than a 9.5 from IGN.

There were a small few problems, so it won't get a 10. Gee, I was hoping it would. I still do..

seeing as how the cube.ign editors finally have a good game in their laps and are creaming their pants over it, it'll receive a 9.5 at the VERY LOWEST

" Even the much-debated controls work wonderfully. "
". With the installed control system, platforming is easily the best it has ever been in first-person perspective. "
"The platform jumping in Metroid Prime is handled flawlessly, easily surpassing every other attempt that has been done in a first-person game"
doesn't sound like bad controls to me. hmmm come to think of it yours is the only negative report iv heard/read of. couldit be a posibility that its not the control but ur inability to handle it
. well i guess thats your opinion but from wat i gathered they're far from horible

Um... 15:18 for my first time through with Chris on Easy. Not including the times where I messed up bad and loaded up a savegame, so I'll guess 20 hours all up. I was trying to do 'everything' though. First time I'd really played a Resident Evil game either, apart from hiring out RE2 on the '64 for a week ages ago and never really getting into it.

it took me like 13 hours with Jill the first time through... *shrugs*
that's like the longest RE game so far I think, but still 2 hours short of 15... but that's just me and you're just slow...
And I'm just kidding...
or something...

I'm not saying:
"The game is crap because I played the demo, and I will never givce it another run"
Depending on the scores, chances are I will give the real game a go... but for now based off of the previews, and the Demo, I see nothing special about this game.
As far as the controlls, I'm used to Bond and TS2 on GCN, and Metroid primes controlls feel nasty in comparision... I'd rather have to controll like TS2 then have those auto aim things.
I'm not into exploration, and I didn't like Super Metroid either. The only metroid I liked was the origanal, that's probably because I was so young and I could get excited over anything. (With this known, am I supposed to like MP?)

ShadowWind, how do you have only 8 posts and yet have 250,000 dblns? Also, your sig pic is a wee bit big because of restrictions. Just something I noticed.
