Re: Fighting Games
HOORAY!
So Friday I bought:
Guilty Gear X2 Reload (Which = 100x more fair than X2)
2 Controller Converters.
IT'S SO SWEET!
I love it.
Chipp isn't so krappy anymore. Thank you Sammy for upping his defense.

Did you get an Xbox to play Reloaded on?
Yesterday I went out shopping, and went to EB, and while there I bought a few games. I got Xmen legends, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (13 DOLLARS!), and...Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution (also 13 dollars, but no instruction booklet.)
So I've been playing Xmen legends a whole lot...and it's a fun game. I enjoy using my telekinisis powers of Jean Grey to throw the bad guys around.
I also played Aria of Sorrow all the way home...extremely fun.
I played VF4:Evo for about 20 minutes...and I suck at it. The reason I suck is ignorance...I dont know how to play it. I wish it had came with an instruction booklet. I need to download one or something, because I have no clue what I'm doing. The only thing I could do was block my oppenets attack, then punch them a few times. So now I'm off on an online quest to figure out how that game works.

VF4: Evo comes with one of the most thorough in-game tutorials ever. It's there, but I can't remember exactly where it is.
Basically, I beat the game twice over in both difficulties, and I STILL can't do some of the moves covered in the tutorial. It's deep as all hell. I spent a good deal of time in it, so check it out.
And yes, it is a hard game. Just make sure you're on beginner mode.

I was wanting to talk to you about this game on MSN, but there is something wrong with my MSN and I can't messege anyone...so I'll just put all my questions on this thread.
1. Is it possible to change the controls to the analog stick?! What idiot would make a fighting game and only be able to use the d pad?! I tried going into the control options, but I couldnt find anything to help me.
2. Do you happen to know if there is a top tier in this game? And if so, do you know who they are?
Thanks...I'll have more questions later, probably.

Dude... Analog sucks for fighters. D-Pad = Awesome...
If you can't do D-Pad stuff, you have no chance in Guilty Gear.
And no, we didn't get le XBox because we have a friend with one, who isn't using it.

o_O
If the d-pad is so awesome and the analog is so bad, than why does every fighting arcade machine ever made have a large joy stick?
It's insane trying to do those d, df, f, uf motions with a d-pad.
If a D-pad was better, than arcade machines would have been born with a d-pad.

Because at an arcade its just that. A large stick. Analog is a small thumb rotatey thing. Its easier to use your whole hand than just your thumb.
But D-pad is easier, way easier.

I don't think there is any option to change it. What analog option there is: clicking R3 and L3 together to restage yourself in a tutorial match.
I know who isn't top tier. Don't use Lau, Lei Fei, Brad, Jacky, or Kage, because they're all either shallow characters or characters people use a lot. You can use them to start out if you want, but you'll find they aren't as deep as the other fighters.
I started with Akira, but he was too hard to master, so I went down a step and went with Pai. Pai suits my quick-thinking, quick combo-performing ways, rather than patience and timing.

The strength of Chipp Zanuff lies in his speed and jumping. I'm not a jumping kind of fighter.

I would totally own you with Chun-Li.
She's top tier in that game...
Ken is pretty close to her though... I hate him, he's so freaking fast, it's like bam bam bam.
