Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
Remember that thread waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when, during the time where we thought The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker was going to be realistic and everybody was hyped up about it and the release of the GCN (or was it still Dolphin then?) and there was a super long thread about what people would like to see in the next Zelda game?
This is something like that.
Post what you think would like to see in the new Zelda game for the GCN. What things should they bring back from WW or other past Zelda games? What should they leave out? What should they add?
****
I, personally, would like this to be Wind Waker 2 beyond just the code name. What happened to Link and Tetra/Zelda after King Hyrule reflooded Hyrule and told them to find a new one? Where did they go? What did they do?
That's the story I want to here. It would make sense for Nintendo to do it, too, since they seem to be a on a continuous storyline streak with the console Zelda games. First we had Ocarina of Time. Then Majora's Mask, the sidestory with the same Link from OoT. Then the Wind Waker, the story sequel to OoT, showing what happened to Hyrule centures after the original 3D game and the 2nd battle (storyline wise) between a Link and Ganon.
Wouldn't it be cool to have the new Zelda be the story of the establishment of the new Hyrule, etc? Itw ould explain some of the geographical differences between OoT and ALttP....
***
I am also in support of voice acting for this game. Obviously, Link shouldn't have a voice beyond the "Hyah!"'s we've been getting, but everybody else should. Or at least the main characters like Zelda and Ganon and any Sages or whatever. The plot essential characters.
Text is outdated and unnecessary. Final Fantasy fans got used to the change from text to voice, so can Zelda fans.
***
What would you guys like to see? I'm not very good at this kind of thing, so I KNOW you can do better than me ^_^

A story mode where you can play from the perspective of either Link, Zelda, or Ganon. I would love to play as Ganon.

Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
I don't think that would really work for the Zelda series. It'd take away from the main game as Link.
Besides, I can't imagine Ganondorf walking through dungeons solving puzzles and stuff. And except for the whole thing with Sheik, Zelda's been more than "Send Link to do my dirty work" kind of girl.
I just can't see something like that being anything more than a disadvantage to Zelda. Besides, than you'd have to have at least two endings (one for Link/Zelda and one for Ganon) and that would drive the storyline speculation fanboys crazy.
More timelines than you could shake a sword at...

Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
I like your ideas Ginkasa, but I definitely want this one to be realistic. Also..maybe there could be some co-op parts where you and other characters in the game have to do something..and the second player can be the other character. A good example would be like in Wind Waker when you needed to bring..the two characters(can't think of their names at the moment, though I think one was called Makar) into the temples.

Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
As I've said, I would have liked a WW2 where they find the new continent, explore, build, etc...
But since that's not happening... I want Zelda to be realistic in more than just graphics...
Hunting, eating, resting, etc... I want all your kinds of areas to explore... Big open fields, lakes, forests, streams, swamps, an ocean (not as big as that in WW, but enough for there to be some fun islands and things to explore)... Everything... With multiple, bigger towns (not just 2 or 3 main ones)... And I don't want all the townsfolk to be happy people getting along perfectly fine...
I definately want a raft... I still want my fun going down a stream through a very foggy forest...
I want the overall plot to be more than just ganon and zelda... No matter how it's disguised (This girl is really Zelda! And look here's ganon!)...
And I would love it if there was a town like in Suikoden (best example I could think of) or whatever which grows as you go through the game... New buildings are built, new stores start up, new townsfolk move in, some people die, etc...
Yeah...
Oh yeah, and I want it to take time to cross these huge enviornments... At least for the first time exploring, I want it to feel like you're truly traveling miles and miles... Then they could work in some system later in the game that makes travel faster (besides the horse)...

We don't know that. A different gaphical style does not mean that this is a different Link or a game that isn't a sequel to The Wind Waker. They were referring to it as WW2. Nobody's ever said anything that would seem to imply that Zelda GCN isn't not actually WW2.

IGN says it's not going to be called Wind Waker 2, and it's not going to be a direct sequel to any of the games...
However, another thing I forgot to mention is that I hope it still has good backstory and ties to past games like WW did... WW was a huge step forward for a Zelda story...

Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
1.Way more dungeons. I'm talking 50 (or at least 11 like A Link to the Past) dungeons here. I don't care how long it takes me to beat them, gimmee some goddamn dungeons...
2.A bit more meaningful smaller enemy battles. Usually there isn't to much worry in the smaller enemies that you fight throughout Zelda games. They are usually more of a formality than anything. I'd like either more small-scale battles or some tougher enemies.
3.Lots of sidequests. I know there are usually a pretty good amount of sidequests in Zelda games already, but they are one of the best parts of the game, so I want a lot of extracurricular activities to do.
4.Just text.
5.A very engaging story with a decent amount of cinematics. I'm not talking MGS cinematics here, but enough to really get me into the game.
6.Big towns. I love walking around Kakariko village and talking to the townies. It's so relaxing.
7.Lose the Zoras and Gorons and such. I thought they were very cool when they were around, but I'd like to see something new, just to mix things up a bit.
Can't think of much else, and I'll be pleased with whatever happens.

Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
I really really liked DeathsHand's description of the game. A realistic zelda, on a HUGE continent, where the world grows and changes with you is just a spectacular idea. I think there should be several modes of transportation, like a raft (as DeathsHand said) where you can take trips down a river or over an ocean, and fish off of it or just go joy riding or exploring.
We already know there will be a horse, and horse fights, so that will be super awesome.
I also liked Canyarion's controller set up. Running with the joy-stick and fighting with the C stick will be awesome. I would love it if the movements of your sword were limitless. Four example, any direction I push the c-stick, my sword would swing that EXACT direction. Can you imagine that? And if you spin your C-stick rapidly, your sword would do the same thing. What I'm proposing is a direct link between the c-stick and the sword.
I deffinatly want to see gannon...it just has to have him in it. I really dont care if it's a sequal to WW or not. Either way, I think it will be good.
I want there to be TONS of weapons, TONS of places to explore, and TONS of sidequests.

Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
I want a badass fishing game built in. I want to catch some ****ing monster fish and have fun doing it.
Dunno, I always lose interest about halfway through zelda games. My attention span or something just can't take it.

Yes, we need fishing again.
I remember when magazines/websites were saying OoT's fishing was tons better then standalone fishing games.

Because every other fishing game is on extremely low budget, and no one in their right mind buys a fishing game.

Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
A (better) Market Area (in each village)
You should be able to:
-- Catch fish and sell/trade them at the market.
-- Trees should also bare fruit which too can be sold/traded. Of course, fruit that's not native to a village(or rare fruit in general) will sell for lots of ruppies.
Realtime "clock" gameplay
For instance:
-- Horse racing every Saturday!
-- Were you should be able to bet on the race. A cleverly designed stats system could allow you to narrow your bet to near 50/50. Or, you may wish to participate in the race yourself, choosing to compete for ruppies or prises. Perhaps even getting someone to bet on you/Epona while you race for prises. Win the race, claim you prise, then you and your accomplice can split the ruppies. hehehe (I'm surely getting carried away now)
-- Thursdays seem like a great day to go Raft-racing down the rivers of Hyrule.
*People may grow impatient with the whole realtime clock thing. So Nintendo could simulate it instead. Keeping the days in the week, but one "game-day" could last for just 2 hours in the realtime.
-- People might want to travel from village to village. Why not give 'em a lift on Epona if you aren't in a hurry? Sure, all in a day's work of a hero! It'll cose 'em a fee of course!
Bonuses: Incentive to play again
-- Each boss should have a secret "artifacts"(for lack of better word) that Link can cease during battle-- you'll have to figure out what those artifacts are for each boss. For instance, The Tooth of The Fire Dragon, or The Scale of the Sea Serpant. Besides showing them to villagers as proof of your greatness, gaining respect and listening to their salutes, you should be able to trade them to various people next time you start a new file, for some cool items/goodies in return. (too wishful?)

That was done before in Metal Gear Solid 2. Honestly, I wasn't too found of it...it doesn't work as well as you might think.
