I saw inception for the second time, and I also liked it even more than the first viewing. The whole plot fell into place, and the ending now makes sense to me (aided by Chris nolan's interview with wired magazine and their multiple theory article).

With the dark knight, Memento and now this movie (and to a lesser extent batman begins), Nolan is my favorite director, with DK being my favorite movie.

I'm with you on that! I've seen Inception three times now, once in theaters and twice with friends. I LOOOOOOOOVE the van sequence. I think it is brilliant. The van and the hotel sequences with the reverse gravity scene are my two favorite parts. I also am a huge watch freak so I love the fact that in the dream levels time slows down and that is reflected by the character's wristwatch. If you rewatch the film you catch the slowed down watch at the beginning, total watch porn. And it is an automatic watch too (not quartz). So for those who are not in the know, an automatic watch actually ticks several times per second to give the illusion that the second hand is moving in a smooth sweep. An automatic watch will tick 6 or 7 times per second. So I thought they did a BRILLIANT job with the slowing down watch thing at the beginning of the film and then later on.

I am pretty sure Inception wrapped up with a closed-ending too: he is awake at the end. But the ONLY doubt I had was the scene where he was running from the guys and he could barely squeeze through the wall.

My thoughts on the ending: In the beginning of the movie they have clips of people talking about cults, so they laid the seed there. The son is upset at an exorcist coming, and throws rocks, not because he cares about his sister but because of what is inside of her. He is and was always a member of the cult, and his job was to protect what was in her belly. That's why he was fine with the exorcist being there when he found out he was a charlatan.

The movie failed in two ways, or one depending on how you look at it. Yes, it depended on suspension of disbelief, and for the most part it succeeded, but the ending completely ruined it for me. The concept would have worked far better if they didn't go for the fake documentary.
I think that is a good summary of the ending. My only question is why did they throw the baby into the fire? To kill it? Free it? Obviously the dad was not in the cult....or the daughter.....

I still think the ending was better than just going through the motions with another Exorcism story. It was an attempt at something clever, which is better than retreading in a sub-genre that has already probably hit the ceiling.

I liked the story of the ending, but I thought that it was too... fantastical... for the way the shot the movie. Just my opinion, though. Otherwise I thought the movie was very well done on every level.

I saw Ip Man 2. But I thought it was Ip Man 1. I liked it, definately a 7.5.
It's a semi-biography about the trainer of Bruce Lee. Pretty fights, and it's fun to see Chinese martial arts vs western boxing.

A Town Called Panic:

Amazingly wacky and funny Belgian stop animation film. Only about 70 minutes long. Perfect length for such a spastic and goofy film. Think Toy Story but weirder and in French. It's on Netflix streaming...

Ip Man 1 is a better movie. I haven't seen 2 yet, but the consensus suggests the first is superior.

Machete - I didn't really buy into this one. I don't think that successive cliches made for a good exploitation. Whatever, is what it is. Alba's 535i is my love car.

Network (1976) - More dated than I wanted to admit. The friends I saw it with didn't hold it as a classic. Decent film.

The Night of the Hunter - Good b&w. Some serious stylistic firsts. Story and scene progression is handled well.

My friend finally watched Aquirre, the Wrath of God. It's in his top list too, so I suggest you see this perfect film if you haven't.

Just saw Taken.

Awesome movie. Liam Neeson is a badass.

The action in it is so fluid and believable and the main premise of the movie I found really sweet

I should update this more, trying to watch like a movie a day when get the chance.

Devil (2010) An interesting concept that probably was better served by another director/writer. The end left a lot to be desired.

Superman Returns (2006) I have a lot of problems with the movie, and I feel like they really could have used a big action piece at some point, but it isn't as awful as people think. Just kind of bland.

Let the Right One In (2008) One of the few foreign films that I've watched, but it is a really interesting movie. Part vampire tale, part coming-of-age story, part romance, but it all blends together so well.

Dinner for Schmucks - Hit and miss, but when it hits it will make you cry. The ending "Dreamer" scene literally made me spit out my soda.

Twilight Eclipse - Disappointing. My wife and I watch these to mock them. This was less mockable than the first two, but still bad. The second is one of the most unintentionally hilarious movies of all time.

Buried: Good movie. Well acted. Made me feel very claustrophobic.

I recommend checking it out

Woo, deja vu peeps.

Dinner For Schmucks - I agree with Prof, this was hit and miss. Probably more of a soft-hearted comedy than a dark comedy like the trailers pitched it.

Despicable Me - WOW. I had no idea what to expect with this film. But holy cow was this a cute film. And it had an amazing soundtrack. I think Despicable Me should qualify as this year's sleeper animated film. The trailers also pitched a different movie than what you get...which is always a mixed blessing.

Buried - Again, wow. This was a really really good film....the film has some obvious flaws that require you to suspend some disbelief. And of course, Tarantino already had some coffin fun in Kill Bill, Vol. 2. While buried was hit and miss with some parts of the story, the movie really excelled in three ways for me:
1) The movie created a deathly sense of claustrophobia. Not quite as claustrophobic as The Descent, but pretty close.
2) Ryan Reynolds did a good job acting. Maybe I am biased though since I have a man crush on him.
3) The ending. Saying any more will spoil it.

I think Dinner was softened up for American audiences.

If I'm not mistaken, the original film (Since its an Americanized version of a French film, I want to say) doesn't even have a dinner party. It takes place entirely in the apartment I believe. This film kind of uses the dinner as the big laughs/goofs/redemption part of the plot.

I enjoyed though.

Also Buried was indeed awesome though for the life of me don't get the snake did it crawl in there when he wasn't looking or was it asleep for hours?

RED - Decent popcorn action flick. John Malkovich was hilarious. "Can we get pancakes?"

a movie called Enter The Void. Unlike anything that I've ever seen or heard of. Watch it? I don't know whether to recommend it.

Saw Children of Men. 7/10. Enjoyable scenario about a world where all humans have been infertile for 18 years.
