LOL. I am nowhere near to having a six pack. What is the best way for getting one? Just a bunch of sit ups and cardio?

lol, I hear ya
it's all about the lighting
in the right lighting, when I flex I have a fairly visible 4 pack. In improper lighting, it just looks like a slab of beef
as for achieving a sixpack, it's all fat percentage. you can't have fat on your stomach...you can do 1000 situps a day and all you're doing is building muscles in your stomach...not toning them to the point where they're visible and defined. I used to do 2800 situps a week and played basketball twice a week. It made my middle torso nice and strong, but no sixpack simply because my fat percentage was over a certain point. Oh, and weight doesn't have much to do with it either. I know a guy 280lbs with ripped abs, and a lot of 170lb guys with little pot bellies.
It's funny how some people will look at your weight, a number, and declare you 'fat' or 'overweight' or 'out of shape' or whatever. This friend of mine...he's the same height as me (6'3"), although we're completely different builds. He's 170lbs and I'm 240lbs. I can run faster, I'm much quicker in something like basketball, obviously stronger, more athletic, and overall healthier (even a better blood pressure). In a lot of cases, weight is no more than a number.

There's soo much more to it than that. The way you eat, for example, is more important...as is cardio.

Eating right is good and all. It doesnt seem to affect me, as long as I do crunches. I also have a high metabolism. My doctor told me I could burn more calories sitting down then some could jogging a good pace.

buuuut if u want my advice (which im sure u dont) u should not do that much. it seems like u were in the gym for over 2 hours lol

lol, I'm not in the Gym over 2 hours... I work pretty fast. Maybe at 2hrs exactly... maybe... but too me it goes by pretty quick.
Also, errr... I do WAY less in my personal Gym visit than my Track/Football teams do.

thats not really overtraining, but i bet you'd get fatigued because you had already worked out so long and that would make u do less weight.

Acctually, once I hit 315 on the bench, I purposly stopped increasing the weight I put on the bar. I was lifting to maintain the strength I have, not to get stronger really. Now I'm trying to get a lil stronger again.
My workout has never really had negitive results... it just puts me out for the night after I'm lifting.

lol, it could be true though... that's how my older brother is. At one point in HS he tried to gain 15lbs over the summer. All he did was lift... no running, no sit-ups, no nothing. He also had a fast food or fatty food only diet. Guess what? He only gained 2lbs over the summer.
At that point him and his doctor decided there is nothing he could do unless he wanted to take supplements or steroids.... which he didn't want to.

Some people's metabolic rates are crazy high...but nobody is going to convince me that if someone ran at a good pace for 24 hours wouldn't burn as many calories as GKG sitting on a couch for 24 hours.

Mush if you want to gain mass forget about abs for now ok? Mainly concentrate on your other body parts for now, just try to keep your stomach flat in the meanwhile , and then when you get the build you desire, start working on your abs.
Trust me .......oh yeah and since your sorta skinny( as Joesis pointed out), you should look more defined, then top that off with a 6 pack and you'll look better than Stu.

i dont think thats what he meant stu. i think he meant he would burn more calories sitting on his ass than he would running. but we all burn alot. some more than others. i found out if i sat on my ass all day i'd burn 1750+ calories.
but yeah, some people have so high of a metabolism they need medicine, cause the food wouldnt do anything no matter how much they ate.
and joe, its just cardio, but not only crunches. there are many ab exercises.
and u r king justin. maybe one day i could do 315

Some girls like the smaller, more defined look....some (including the only one I care about) like the bigger, stronger look.
I always look best in the summer...I usually get the most exercise in the spring/summer...and fingers....16 inch beceps, man

Hey everyone...I've decided to get off my lazy ass and try to start working out to try to accomplish 3 things...
First and foremost I'd like to lose 20-40 pounds. I guess the best way to do this is exercise and eat right, but I don't know if there's any specific type of exercises I should be doing...
Secondly, I'd like to firm up my stomach...a lot. I've just been noticing that I'm getting a bit of a belly and I don't like how it looks and I'd like it to be much smaller. Are crunches and sit-ups the best thing to do for this? Or is there something else?
Finally, I want to get in shape for baseball season which starts in about 3 weeks. I guess I hope that some of the above would help with that matter. Basically I want my muscles hurting now instead of after the first day of practice...and I don't wanna be out of breath after the first warm up lap...
Any advice would be sweet. thanks.
