I think the last part of your sentence is what made it kind of funny to me; "a realistic take on fairy tales." Just the idea of this gruff, gritty "trollhunter" talking about things like "Ringlefinches" and their traits, along with the veterinarian studying them is just kind of silly, but in a charming way that worked for the movie.
I liked it, but it gave me a couple of good chuckles I guess, but not in a bad way.
Blazing Saddles
Some good bits but overall didn't love it. Too Luny Tunes-ish for me and did not care for the end. Felt way out of place.
Win Win
Really quite good. Writer/director of The Station Agent and The Visitor. Both of which I liked. He also co-wrote....Up. I did not know that. And it stars Paul Giamatti. That automatically ups the rating.
I just saw War Horse. It was quite good, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Probably my favorite Spielberg movie since The Terminal. (I know Munich was a great film but it just wasnt really my cup of tea, and War of the worlds was only OK. )
Also, the music in War Horse is great. John Williams is like super old but hes still got it.
Oh if only you knew how many of these sort of movies I've missed out on. Never saw the first three Star Wars in their entirety either.
Super 8
Really liked this. Didn't even need the alien bit. Great kid actors. The lens flare was fricking distracting though. Almost made me turn it off in the beginning. It's that bad.

Seen a movie called Rubber. The trailers just looked too bad, had to watch it. It ended up not being too horrible.. but maybe because of my low expectations
(If you're going to watch these trailers, watch them in the order I put them)

The Inbetweeners Movie
Pretty funny with no shortage of awkward moments. Was like watching a longer episode with better production values. The character actually mature somewhat rather than continue to be caricatures of themselves as they had become. A nice way to end the show.

War Horse
Found a copy online. Pretty good. Beautifully shot, and you kind of know exactly what's going to happen, but it's definitely well done. Maybe a little too long and it's not something that will stick with me as super memorable, but it was fine .
