The Villain Thread
This is partially inspired by the upcoming (crosses finger) GT comic esque thread, but curious what makes a good villain.
Some of your favorite villains.
Some good henchmen.
And foils which can be different from henchmen.
Because Wiki or youtube needs to be in all my thread.
Quote:
A villain is an "evil" character in a story, whether an historical narrative or, especially, a work of fiction. The villain usually is the bad guy, the character who fights against the hero. A female villain is sometimes called a villainess. Random House Unabridged Dictionary defines villain as "a cruelly malicious person who is involved in or devoted to wickedness or crime; scoundrel; or a character in a play, novel, or the like, who constitutes an important evil agency in the plot.

Re: The Villain Thread
Hmm.. Bowser would be a favorite, because of the childhood memories - and his dedication to his job. And because he's a Mario universe character.
But my favorite villain would have to be The Riddler. His great outfit, mysterious aura and twisted mind makes him number one.

Re: The Villain Thread
My favourite villian by far is Chrono Trigger's Dalton. What an egotistical maniac, hahaha.

Re: The Villain Thread
Probably my favorite villain is the Joker.
The way that he has no real motives and just does things for the sake of doing them is really scary. The idea of him is just terrifying.
And awesome

Re: The Villain Thread
A good villain should've started off good but then been turned bad by someone or something. Whether that be an event or whatever.
Villains that are just born or originate as being naturally villainous are boring.

I don't think that is true. I think a villain who is just evil to be evil works just as well.
I think you can have boring villains ESPECIALLY if they rely on a hook/gimmick.

Re: The Villain Thread
I think Seymour from Final Fantasy X was a really good villain.
For me, a good villain doesn't need to be tough, or big or anything - but insane, mellow, and generally 'off'.
Magneto is a good villain, because Magneto is trying to justify his genocide.
I prefer the Anti-Villains, to villains.
Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars III.
Alec Trevelyan, Goldeneye.

Re: The Villain Thread
kefka from final fantasy 6 owns any other villian's ass, he has THE laugh, and how many villians actually manage to fuck the world up, in the end, you beat him sure, but you are sure never getting your pretty planet back.

Yeah, I was thinking that two. Dalton and Kefka are my top ones. Dalton beat out Kefka for breaking the fourth wall, though. But Kefka's the badassest badass that ever badassed.
