Re: I saw the matrix-spoilers
a lot of you let your opinions take way to much into this.
whether you liked it...
and whether it was a technically good movie...
are two WAY WAY WAY differnt things.
strangler thinks more along the lines i do in this. in viewing movies in a more technical way, looking for the things that make good movies, bad movies, good acting, dialogue, things of that nature.
no one said likeing the movie is a bad thing. But aside from special effects, the movie wont win many awards.
and Morpheus, learn not to take generizations so personally or life is going to get tough bro.

Re: I saw the matrix-spoilers
Null, You lost me. What makes a movie technically good?
The Strangler, Special effects and plot may not make a movie technically good (whatever that means), but it makes a movie memorable. This is what separates Jurassic Park, Star Wars, and ET from movies on your list. I saw nothing wrong with the acting in the movie. The story was meant to have holes, and most likely couldn't have been executed any better without dumbing down the action or adding hours of more film.

Opinion has everything to do with the success of a movie. If a person enjoy's a movie, they'll watch it. If you enjoy a movie, then it's a good movie. Enjoyment is a matter of opinion... whether you enjoy it based on its plot, its graphics, its acting, or its atmosphere determines your opinion.
As for the bolded section of the quote, I'd say your opinion about the movie also helps you conclude how good the movie is. That's not a bad thing though... because that's what an opinion does, always. No-one can ever involve their opinion too much when discussing something as subjective as the success of a film or its direction.

Yes, the movie was rushed in terms of mechanics. I do, however, feel that Neo's dull attitude was accurate as, before he was in the Matrix, he was simply a computer techie who did dirty work for some "associates". He was also looking up radical ideas online about a Matrix. Hmmm, I just don't think someone like Neo would be very animated under normal circumstances.
Judging a movie technically only goes so far. It's not mathematics... there is no answer; everything is based on opinion. I respect your opinion, but I also enjoyed the movie.

Re: I saw the matrix-spoilers
i never said the movie wasnt successfull. hands down it will be a huge success as far as money goes.
and they prolly dont care about awards, so they will get exactly what they wanted out of the movie.

Re: I saw the matrix-spoilers
Eww... this thread got ugly.
Null... Matrix, if you like it or not, will be rememberd as one of the greatest films of all time. Not only is there room for a billion side stories (like Star Wars), the story has no cut and dry meaning... it makes you think, and everybody gets somthing different out of the story. The fact that it has the biggest and best action sequences ever made and the fact that it appeals to a wide audience is just iceing on the cake.

Re: I saw the matrix-spoilers
I think in the third movie it got too religous...
It seemed like that was more of its purpose... there were a myriad of biblical refernces.. indeed, after I saw it, the people I went with all got together to discuss all the religous aspects of the movies... we were talking for over three hours.... I don't have the list of comparesons with me, however if anyone is interested, I can get the list... but it covers everything from the anti-christ, to the Jewish interprestaion of Zion, to the first may be last verse from the gospels, Anderson = son of man... Smith, by ALWAYS calling him Ms. Anderson acklowleged his position...etc.
Oh yeah, I loved it, but that may be because I was sitting one seat away from a GOURGOUS guy and saw reloaded first in an apartment with 8 guys and 2 oher girls... 6 of the 8 guys were gorgous... that may have contributed a bit to my love of the movie...

Re: I saw the matrix-spoilers
I saw the movie last night with jonbo.. I liked it overall. it was a generally good movie I wasn't there to find all the answers even though I felt it left me a little high and dry it did answer alot of my questions. But I would like to see how the humans and machines end up. Like does zion finally come to the surface and start rebuilding a society with the machines ?
