Re: Reputation Eval
Is Stu leaving or is he just retiring from his moderator position?
I think the reputation system is ok. The only thing I miss is that with doubloons we could give/receive different amounts for different things. Like if someone makes a good post or something, one +rep is fine but if someone does me a favor or makes me a banner or something, I'd like to give them a bigger prize, in the past I've just had to +rep them for a couple posts. Its good though.
Oh also, can you post all the different reputation level messages in order, I'm just curious. Like some say, "has a reputation beyond repute". I'm just curious to know what they all are, and their order.

Re: Reputation Eval
I'm personally not in favor of it, but I don't suppose I'm going to get a whole lot of voice on the matter. It's cool, but I think that limiting peoples functionality on the forums is lame (based on rep at least). It's just not an accurate system to tracking the 1337 people on the forums and rewarding them. As it is now, there are a lot of very well respected people on this board that are going to get the bad end of the deal. There are many people I have great respect for with lower rep than those who don't have my respect. Often just because they're not scoping out "post here for rep" threads (exaggerated obviously, but you get my point).
I guess if I want all of those fancy shmancy features I'll have to work to get a higher rep count.
But sometimes it's the things that don't get posted that add to my view of a person. Really cool idea, but it sounds like a lot of work, and for the wrong reason.
Edit:

Re: Reputation Eval
Oh, about moderating. Can I have mod powers in in the contest forum for the duration of the character battle?

Re: Reputation Eval
I like the system... more positive Rep is being dished out than negitive Rep, so it's cool. As for finding a replacement for Stu as a mod, if you want me to work again just say the word.

If it doesn't show up I might be able to add a user profile field.

Re: Reputation Eval
Easiest way to know how much rep-altering points you have is to have someone be online at the same time, find out how much rep they have before, then give then +rep and then after that just do the simple math.
And Neo, your little copy/paste mistake is still there from the other rep rules post.
P2 Silver (1000 reputation)
P3 Gold (1000 reputation)
And I like to generate discussion
And also, I like the rep system. Its not too bad, but I liked the doubloon system more. The only thing I would've changed from the doubloon days was maybe give more incentives for trading in doubloons for stuff.

Re: Reputation Eval
I've discovered as well that when you post negative rep, the value is only half of your current rep-altering power.

Re: Reputation Eval
If anyone wants to be a moderator let me know. I may hire a couple to either replace or compliment our current staff. Being responsible and a regular visitor are as always important requirements, but my main concern right now is in generating discussion, especially in the slower forums.
