That shouldn't have any weight. If that's the case, then since Naslund was the leading scorer Moore should have hella let up on that hit. He didn't though, he leaned into it. If Moore's job is to be the tough guy and check hard then he should live up to it and be willing to take the recourse for his hit(s). Realistically the NHL is a league that has laws. There is always a reaction to an action. It's sad that Moore had his neck broke unintentionally but he should have had the guts to atleast standup for his hit and duke it with someone who would have provided a fair fight. Anyone of the Canucks players who were willing to fight him would have got the instigator anyway.

doesnt matter if he was being a tough guy or not, checks are checks. all players check, and its part of the game.
Fighting arguably is not, there is no rule that states you have to fight. his job is to play hockey, he did. with a clean hit that something no one could have expected happend. but he did nothing wrong. now because he didnt want to fight he may never play again.

They should throw out the instigator rule... I mean, going back to the Naslund incident, somebody would have just fought Moore, and the situation would have been over.

I mean, just look at when McSorely checked Gilmour a bit too hard in the playoffs in 93... Then Wendel beat the crap out of McSorely... And that was the end of it...

I dont know why they wouldnt take that rule out, And i dont know why they(NHL) put it into play in the first place, because i think that there would be ALOT less major injuries, maybe some more minor ones, such as a broken hand due to a fight or something like that if there was no instagator penalty. Let the players police themselves, its their job.
- Another thing i dont get; The diving penalty. When they call the diving penalty they also call the hook, or slash. But if the initial penalty was a dive, then the player didnt hook him as badly now did he?
