Raiden's sword system in MGS2.. I liked it for a while, but in the end it just got repetitive. I don't think the C-stick could take the stress like that anyways.

Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
I think that was mainly Konami's fault and not the idea itself... If they made the sword controls a little more sensitive (analog-esque), more responsive, and gave the player a bigger choice of moves to do, it could work very well...
But I think even if they do let you control the sword with the C-stick for advanced attacks, there should still be the classic combo attack done by hitting B a few times...

Maybe they should do what they did in StarFox Adventures, except use the c-stick to make some complicated combos to kick anyguys ass. Of course you would learn how to do it first.

Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
I just want to feel satisfied and feel that I just played a really enjoyable game when im through it. That means, good puzzles, to the point where they are difficult just to the point where you really feel like you've accomplished something when you figure them out.
Really thats the main thing that is probably the most important. Also a story where I feel compelled by. Surprise me Nintendo, like you always do.
Oh and also, I want shiggy to wipe my butt.

Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
A (better) Market Area (in each village)
You should be able to:
-- Catch fish and sell/trade them at the market.
-- Trees should also bare fruit which too can be sold/traded. Of course, fruit that's not native to a village(or rare fruit in general) will sell for lots of ruppies.
Realtime "clock" gameplay
For instance:
-- Horse racing every Saturday!
-- Were you should be able to bet on the race. A cleverly designed stats system could allow you to narrow your bet to near 50/50. Or, you may wish to participate in the race yourself, choosing to compete for ruppies or prises. Perhaps even getting someone to bet on you/Epona while you race for prises. Win the race, claim you prise, then you and your accomplice can split the ruppies. hehehe (I'm surely getting carried away now)
-- Thursdays seem like a great day to go Raft-racing down the rivers of Hyrule.
*People may grow impatient with the whole realtime clock thing. So Nintendo could simulate it instead. Keeping the days in the week, but one "game-day" could last for just 2 hours in the realtime.
-- People might want to travel from village to village. Why not give 'em a lift on Epona if you aren't in a hurry? Sure, all in a day's work of a hero! It'll cose 'em a fee of course!
Bonuses: Incentive to play again
-- Each boss should have a secret "artifacts"(for lack of better word) that Link can cease during battle-- you'll have to figure out what those artifacts are for each boss. For instance, The Tooth of The Fire Dragon, or The Scale of the Sea Serpant. Besides showing them to villagers as proof of your greatness, gaining respect and listening to their salutes, you should be able to trade them to various people next time you start a new file, for some cool items/goodies in return. (too wishful?)

Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
D-realJos, your post reminded me of a game I play way too much *looks at sig and avatar*
But Anyway... all I want it to be is innovative. I want it to throw a curve ball at me that I didn't expect, like in MM for N64. So with that said, I can't realy ask for much. Oh.. well, one thing, It would be nice if this game incorperated the stories of WW and OoT in it, or somehow linked other Zelda games. There is a story gap between OoT and WW that could be told, but we all know how it ends... well, not exactly, but Hyrule becomes flooded after Gannondorf is "defeated" again.

Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
I like D-realJos's idea about the better market, it got me thinking that Zelda should have a market like that in Secret of Evermore in the Desert area... Lots of different items to buy and trade...
Or at least a trade system like in Suikoden III, but instead of having it only earn you Rupies, there could also be rare occasions where you could trade for useful items for your quest... For instance, the Tooth of the Fire Dragon, or the Scale of the Sea Serpent...

FFX1 huh. Never played it, but with it being an online RPG, it had BETTER have such a system. Apparently, it does.

lol, true, that's a requrement with a MMORPGs. The problem with it in FFXI is that there are skill levels... and getting it to a respectable level costs a ton of money, and a ton of time. Getting your fishing skill to level 100 is a 200+ hour game in itself... and that's just counting fishing time, not factoring in how you get all the money to fish (assuming you don't have great luck)

Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
hey guys I figured since I was the originator of the long lost zelda thread, I might actually have it saved on my computer somewhat.
But to tell you the truth I really haven't had many qualms about past zelda games. We all know that by far our favorite was a link to the past, and it wasn't just the going back to the past cause that didnt' really work in OOT as good.
Really what I'm thinking is going to make or break this game isn't the story line b/c that always seems to be good but the length. I mean a game that you just can play for hours and still not be close to done. Also it can't just be a long game it still has to incorportate some difficulty in it. I mean seriously at the end of the last few games since really the second one by the time you get to level 6 and above you can stomp anyones asses.
Another thing, I know its hyrule and all most likely but seriously the master sword and stuff is cool but can't we for once have a new set of items. I love the boommerang and such but every game its the same thing over and over again, you get hookshot, and pegasus boots, and mirror sheild and fun stuff like that, but i just want something to make things different.
One thing I hope they keep somehow is the shape changing. I wasn't a big fan of being a rock guy "sorry brain fart and forgot the name" but it was ****in awesome beinga zorra, it just made things so much easier than having flippers to swim around.
I like how theyre gonna have the horse back and hopefully if your out in the open your always being chased around by a small band of moblins.
Most of all what i want to see in this game is a ****in huge expanse of land. I mean hyrule field should probably be as big as the whole entire OOT of time land. Think about it its a castle surrounded by mountains it should have plenty of room in front of it so that it would be able to host a huge army to protect itself. I'm talking like the beach in front of troy.
And all in all the final thing since we better fight gannon b/c that is what makes zelda a classic and why would a hero arise again if there wasn't a gannon to fight, but w/ gannon he should be a freakin powerful mamma Jamma. I mean I really want to have to fight this guy until I want to throw the controller at the wall. I mean seriously look at the monsters in FF games at the end there practically impossible to kill, but gannon no you always kill him in like 12 hits or so, and that just isn't goign to fly.
and on last thing. if your a hero shouldn't epona be a white horse. I mean gannon and the bad guys always have a dark black horse but you have this homely brown horse. Why can't we have a nasty horse like shadowfax in LOTR. If we are the only hero that gives the landa chance don't you think that we would be able to get the greatest horse in all the land and shouldn't that horse be a white one?
Alright those are my 30 cents, and trust me i coulda gone on about everything in this game but i'm tired of typing so if I get some good replys besides its not gonna happen i'm a dirty ^^hore like your m*m, then i'll throw out some more crazy happenings from this brain of mine.

Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
I agree with most of what you're asking for, except for the difficulty. While I think that Zelda shouldn't just be a walk through the park like WW was, it shouldn't be near as difficult as FF has known to become. Zelda's always been a series that both adult and child gamers could enjoy. Ramping up the difficulty too high would take away half of the audience.
And Epona (or "horse") as white? I would prefer brown. White horses seem ugly to me, and besides, the black and white thing is slightly cliched. I think the horse always being similar to (or just plain being) Epona is going to be one of those things like Talon and Malon (and Link and Zelda of course). Just a small continuity thing.
I also don't see why Hyrule couldn't be bigger than everything in OoT
And a pet peeve: It is spelled bloody GANON! One N! Geez, one game has a mistranslation and people stick with it. Have they not noticed it is Ganon, not Gannon, in every game since?

Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
I don't mind a brown horse.... And you have to realise that in LotR, Shadowfax should be grey/silver. They used a white horse only in the movie....
I hope they'll implement more horse-bussiness. Like if you're nice to Epona, she'll run faster and stuff.

Re: Zelda GCN Speculation or What You Want to See in the New Zelda Game
You know what the new game needs? Sword beams. After ALttP, they suddenly disappeared except for a small cameo in MM. When I'm holding the Master Sword at full health, I want sword shaped beams to fly at my enemies.
Obviously, that could make things pretty easy, so there would have to be limits. There would have to be a limit distance, and the damage could be halved like in ALttP. Seems strange to me that the Master Sword would be weaker in OoT and WW than it was in ALttP (and every sword in LoZ).
Roc's Feather/Cap would be great, too. Say you come to a large canyon, similar maybe to the canyon in front of Gerudo Fortess in OoT. You need to get across it. What do you do? Equip the Roc's Feather/Cape and jump across!
Automatic jumping should be kept for the smaller things, but a Feather or Cape could be used to reach high places or across long canyons. Similar to how the Hookshot has been used, only cooler.
The Pegasus Boots would make a nice return. Since there aren't screens like in top-down Zelda games, there'd have to be a limit to how long LInk could run...
But they'd be neat in 3D...
