( yes, it was Sega 2k3 i played)

I would like to argue you on one point.

You said the sega ones are more of a sim, and EA more of an arcade style.

Look back at the last EA hockey game, NHL 2004. That has a major sim element in it, wher you can be the GM of a team for 20 consecutive years. Plus this is the least arcade style hockey game tey have ever made.

The "Big hits" are no longer cross-checks only, but now hip-checks, trips, slashes and body checks.

And you shouldnt judge the game on the stupidity of other people. Thats just lame.

" Oh, people are making this game suck online, other than not playing online or starting my own game, i'll denounce this game."

I cant vouch for the newest Sega hockey game, because ive never played it.

they are more arcade based, when your playing hockey. EA is trying. but they just dont get it yet, im not saying they wont for 2005, but thus far lately they havnt. theres been a couple that have been really really good. but lately its been way to easy to score and just not realistic.

if you even go on the EA boards for the hockey games they will argue its more arcade based.

i play online. that is a HUGE HUGE factor for me. i dont like playing games by myself. bots are not competitive, im very competitive person in that reguard.

and the reason the people play it like that is becuase thats basically they style they have to work with. people who play it love the arcade style, fast high scoring action. and thats exactly what it is.

EA could easily fix this by saying ranked games you cant change settings like speed. as i said before, a ranked game should be the same for every person. not each person with thier own settings, how on earth does that decide your rank?

Sega/ESPN doesnt quite get that last part either yet. im hopping both will have that light bulb go off in thier head sometime soon.

if people want to play a speed setting at 10, and no line changes and no fatigue, then it should have to be UNranked.

I think EA just wants its users to have a choice on what type of game mode/speed they play at.

Why don't you just start a game with normal speeds then?

but see thats the point. they should be able to play thier type. but not ranked.

how can it give a rank to 1 to one person, who lets say plays fast speeds and takes out rules like icing 2line passing, and line changes.
and rank 2 is a person who plays all rules on at normal speed.

whos to say which one is better then the other? thats stupid. the rank 1 guy isnt better just because he can make all his settings into an easy game and play.

other sports games have thoes things set in stone if its ranked. and if you want to change em it wont be ranked. other EA games have it ffs.

some of them trick you into it. they'll bump up the speed without you looking then you go into the game and its all fast.

and i did start my own games. but with everyone playing thoes settings its hard to find people to accept.

NHL 2004 Dynasty is ****ing incredible. If ESPN can get a decent dynasty mode, i'll switch back to them...

and I would rather see actual gameplay pics with the overhead view.

yea. thier other features like that they've added have been quite good.

but they just need to make the actual game play more sim like.

and i think ESPN will have something like that for 2005
