Re: ESPN NHL 2K5
graphics are better in EA's, there was never a question about that, however from above i still dont notice a diff, (i zoom out a bit more tho)
ESPN deff skate more realistic tho
And you might want to take the game back for a diff copy, even on the main message board, you're the only one i've heard of having a PS2 freezing problem. i've only heard of the Xbox version having the probs like that.

Re: ESPN NHL 2K5
I dont know what you mean Joiss, but i will give another run down on the game after redescovering controls.
In game graphics could be way better. I was expecting better after seeing the NFL graphics.
The in-game gameplay is good. You can hit the ref ( run into him) and you can miss a bodycheck and hit your own players.
There are alot of in-game things you can do. Manual deke ( also in EA) Big hits ( Origionated in EA) Spearing, truipping, elbowing, hooking, highsticking, fighting ( which is horrible in this game, you cant even choose to not fight) The goalies can hit people if they get in too tight.
I found the one timer goal sores much too often in this game. Not all the time, but moreso than it should.
The seasons are adjustable, meaning you can pick the number of games to play in a season.
It has skills competitions, which i absolutely love.
The season itself ( Franchise mode) is alright. Its not spectacular, but its not bad either.
I have no idea how long the franchise mode is though.
It lacks euro leagues and extra country teams.
When I want to release a player to not be used ( IE T.Salo because hes playing in Sweden this year) I cant send him away. I can only release him, so he is picked up in franchise mode by a team.
Extra "classic" teams are a good idea and I love it. They are the first thing i bought, and i have already had many a Rangers/Canucks '94 game.
You can edit players which should be standard in ANY sports game. Because some players are better than they are, and some are worse.
But the main point for me is graphics. I play every game. And the graphics get on my nerves. The jerseys look like painted shirts. They have little definition in them.
But i want a game to play, not to sim and look at stats, which is why this will get all dusty while i play EA NHL 2005.
I think the main reason these ESPN games are outselling EA games is not on quality, but price. I can buy 2 of these for the price of one normal game. So claiming they are selling more because its a better game is a gross overstatement.
And Null, dont judge the EA game before playing it. Your saying all these things about it yet you havent played it yet. Give it a chance.

from the reviews NHL 2005 is getting, its going to be much much better then that. But im holding off till i play that one.

read first, accuse later.
as i've been saying. ive been comparing em to past years EA nhl games which have really sucked total ass, NHL Hits got better ratings, and was more fun to play then them.
still looking at pictures and stuff. ESPN's are more realistic graphics, jerseys look more real, have folds and waves in them.
EA's are sharper tho which is what i think your talking about.
And actually ESPN was doing better then EA's (NHL) last year, and it was the same price.
And i dont use all the stats and stuff really, (cept when thier on me) but i play to play HOCKEY, and when i go into the past EA games and get +20 goals on the hardest levels, it annoys me. I'd go back to EA if they'd make a realistic hockey game, but from the reiviews it doesnt look like thats going to happen this year. im hearing they have more sure fire ways to score then last years
i'm still going to play and test it out tho. and i still have some hopes for it.
I wish Sega would make thiers for PC tho. and i wish SOMEONE would make one that console users can play against the PC users.

Re: ESPN NHL 2K5
Sorry, i didnt see you say that.
And for graphics and jerseys, for one, look at the logos.
ESPN
EA
Your going to tell me thats just crispness?
And lets compare faces.
ESPN
EA
Again, if you look at the jersey on Naslund, the logo looks like a stitched on logo, not a painted on piece of crap.
(Doesnt the guy on the right in the ESPN pic look like Carson Daly?)
And lets just compare a random game pic.
ESPN
EA
Goalies, just for fun.
ESPN
EA
And yes, i know you have said EA's graphics are better, but i was comparing certain points here, because i dont see how you can defend ESPN on having more realistic graphics.

Re: ESPN NHL 2K5
lol.
well for 1 i was talkin PS2 vs PS2.
not PS2 espn vs PC EA.
theres quite a bit of a difference gap. ESPN doesnt even have a PC version to compete on that detail level. but if you think your PS2 will have that kind of detail. think again.
and that first pic of the EA guy on the oilers, REALLY creeps me out.

Re: ESPN NHL 2K5
These are both PS2.
None of them are PC.
Both of the sets of pics are PS2.
EDIT: And the first pic of the guy with the Oilers isnt EA, its ESPN.
