Doesn't Steam download the game after you buy it? At least some neccesary parts of it? If I'm wrong, then I'm going to need a pretty in-depth explanation of buying games off Steam. And if I'm convinced, I might actually buy something ...

Oops. I may have read it wrong. Are you gonna buy and download off steam? I think at first I read it was on the shelf.

But if you are buying off Steam, go ahead and preload the game. After its done preloading, if you have a DVD Burner, put the Half Life2 gcf files onto a DVD and store it. If you have a CD Burner, put some files on 1 cd, some on another. Then, if you ever have to reformat, you don't have to redownload over 2 gigs of data (compressed)
