Actually, it was the British who burned down the White House, with help from probably a couple dozen to fifty Canadian militia.

What Joeiss said is right. The whole "Canadians" burning down the white house is a load of crap. It happened, but it was mostly British soldiers. Just a way for Canadians to make themselves feel better than our southern neighbours.
